ANDERSSON AND EDIN RUNNING IN THE COLOURS OF TEAM AMARAVATI

Friday, 21 September, XIANGYANG (China): Jonas Andersson and Erik Edin will make their first appearance running in the colours of Amaravati, the capital of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh and the host city of the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix of India which takes place on the 16-18 November, at this weekend’s Agile Grand Rix, Xiangyang, round 4 of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.

 

The marketing agreement reached between the Andra Pradesh Tourism Authority, H2O Racing and team owner Andersson will see the Swedish duo running as Team Amaravati and sponsored by Ta Shackt O Maskin, Malaxmi and Andra Pradesh Tourism for the remainder of the season and all-importantly debuting colours the of Amaravati ahead of the Grand Prix of India.

 

Team Amaravati [formerly Team Sweden] is currently lying in fifth place in the Teams World Championship, with Edin enjoying an impressive run of form in his first full season in the championship and delivering a string of career best performances, qualifying in fifth in London and finishing fourth in Evian and in sixth place in the title race, with Jonas Andersson unlucky in the first two rounds but finishing sixth in Evian and in 13th place.

All eyes on Amaravati as action shifts to India Grand Prix of F1H2O

Hyderabad : After a splendid run at the Agile Grand Prix in Xiangyang, China, F1H2O World Championship is now set to be hosted in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh for the 6th round of UIM championship. The global sporting event is making a grand comeback to India after a long gap of 14 years. The racing extravaganza will be held on the River Krishna from Nov 16 – 18.

F1H2O Championship is a globally loved sport with millions of followers across the world. The mega event takes place every year in some of the most challenging international circuits. This year the championship began in Portugal on May 18 and will end in Sharjah on December 15. The races in Amaravati will see world’s top teams in action including teams from Portugal, Italy, UAE, France and our very own, Team Amaravati.

Team Amaravati made a splendid debut in China at the Agile Grand Prix in Xiangyang. The race was held on the 23rd September with 39 laps and saw Jonas Andersson clinching the fourth spot in the main race. The team narrowly missed the podium finish to Team Abu Dhabi. Lead driver Jonas Andersson and partner Erik Edin have shown great potential and are looking to cause a few upsets as the competition heads into the business end of the championship. In fact, Jonas made it to the 3rd spot in the BRM qualifications before the main race began in China. He and Edin are placed seventh and eighth on the F1H2O Drivers Championship leader board with Thani Al Qemzi of Abu Dhabi occupying the top spot. In the World Team Championship standings, Team Amaravati stands third with Team Abu Dhabi and Team CTIC F1 Shenzhen China holding number one and two spots respectively. The F1H2O flag was officially handed over to Team Amaravati in China, making a gesture of taking the championship to Krishna waters.

Mr. Himanshu Shukla, CEO, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority spoke during the press conference held at the APTA office in Vijayawada. He said, “We are making spectacular arrangements at the home venue, welcoming close to 350 international guests and other prominent power boating enthusiasts in India. Elaborate planning is being done in terms of hospitality and logistics, in order to incorporate the oncoming traffic in November. We are very confident that with this championship, Amaravati will become a global destination for international level sporting events. AP Tourism had been applauded for all the initiatives taken so far and we intend to create solid resonance for Amaravati with F1H2O”

Sandeep Mandava, CEO, India Xtreme of Malaxmi Group, the local organizer spoke on the occasion and shared further plans “We have recently welcomed Mr Marco Peitrini, Director of Logistics, F1H2O in Amaravati. The teams have jointly conducted complete reconnaissance of the venue and took stock of all the protocols and updates in order to conduct the race smoothly on the home ground.” He said.

The capital city is gearing up to welcome visitors from across the globe to witness the event. The 23 km stretch along the River Krishna will turn into a carnival site celebrating best of the sport along with a host of other exciting activities to engage the crowd and showcase arts, culture and delectable cuisine of Andhra Pradesh. APTA will also set up viewing galleries near Punnami Ghat and will close the Prakasam Barrage during the two-day event, turning it into a makeshift viewpoint for spectators.

F1H2O World Championship is the world’s premier international series of single-seater inshore circuit formula 1 powerboat racing, which began in 1981. The series attracts millions of viewers across continents lining up to watch some of world’s leading drivers. An international event of this stature will not only put India on the global sporting map but will also help create the sporting culture and infrastructure in the country. The gala event will also help promote tourism in the state and showcase its unique culture on the global stage.

‘‘ఈ ఏడాది ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా బోటు రేసింగ్‌ ఛాంపియన్‌ షిప్‌ పోటీలు ఎనిమిది దేశాల్లో జరుగుతున్నాయి. వాటిలో ఇప్పటికే ఐదు చోట్ల పూర్తయ్యాయి. చివరిగా సెప్టెంబర్‌ 23న చైనాలో జరిగిన పోటీల్లో అమరావతి బోటు కూడా పాల్గొంది. మొత్తం పది బృందాలు పాల్గొనగా అమరావతి నాలుగో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. మొదటి ప్రయత్నంలోనే తొలి 5 స్థానాల్లో నిలవడం ఆనందంగా ఉంది. అమరావతిలో జరిగే పోటీల్లో మొదటి మూడు స్థానాల్లో నిలిచేందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తాం. 10 బృందాలకు గాను ఒక్కో జట్టు నుంచి 50 సభ్యులు చొప్పున 500 మంది వస్తారు.  వీరికి అందించే ఆహారంలో ఆంధ్ర వంటకాలను అందించేందుకు నిర్ణయించాం.  వీరితో పాటు ఎక్కువ మంది ప్రజలు వీక్షించేలా ఏర్పాట్లు చేస్తున్నాం. ఈ నెల 8వ తేదీన ముఖ్యమంత్రితో జరిగే సమావేశంలో వీటన్నింటినీ ఆయనకు వివరిస్తాం. అనంతరం సీఎం సూచనల మేరకు మార్పులు చేసి కార్యక్రమం విజయవంతం అయ్యేలా చర్యలు తీసుకుంటాం’’అని ఆయన తెలిపారు. అనంతరం పోటీలకు సంబంధించిన జెండాను ఆయన ఆవిష్కరించారు.

అమరావతి, అక్టోబరు 3(ఆంధ్రజ్యోతి): నీటిపై ఫార్ములా వన్‌ రేస్‌కు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌ సిద్ధమవుతోంది. వచ్చే నెలలో నిర్వహించే ఈ ఈవెంట్‌కు సంబంధించిన ఎఫ్‌1హెచ్‌2వో ఫ్లాగ్‌ (జెండా) మన రాష్ట్రానికి చేరింది. బుధవారం పర్యాటకశాఖ కార్యాలయంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో ఏపీ పర్యాటక మండలి ముఖ్య కార్యనిర్వహణాధికారి హిమాన్షు శుక్లా రేసు వివరాలు వెల్లడించారు. ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా 8 దేశాల్లో ప్రపంచ బోట్‌ రేస్‌ చాంపియన్‌షిప్‌ నిర్వహిస్తుండగా ఇప్పటి వరకూ 4 దేశాల్లో పూర్తయిందని చెప్పారు. గత నెలలో చైనాలో పోటీలు ముగిసాయని, నవంబరు 17, 18 తేదీలలో అమరావతిలోని భవానీ ఐల్యాండ్‌లో వీటిని నిర్వహిస్తున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. 18వ తేదీన సాయంత్రం ఫైనల్స్‌ ఉంటాయన్నారు. చైనాలో పోటీలు ముగిసిన వెంటనే ఎఫ్‌1హెచ్‌2వో జెండాను ఇండియా(ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌)కు అప్పగించారని చెప్పారు. చైనాలో జరిగిన పోటీల్లో పాల్గొన్న అమరావతి రేస్‌ బోటు నాలుగో స్థానంలో నిలిచిందని, కృష్ణానదిలో నిర్వహించే పోటీల్లో టాప్‌-3లో ఉంటుందని అంచనా వేస్తున్నామని పేర్కొన్నారు. అమరావతి బ్రాండ్‌ ఇమేజ్‌ను ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తం చేయాలనే పోటీలను ఏపీకి తీసుకువచ్చామన్నారు.
 
విదేశీ పర్యాటకుల రాక
పోటీల్లో 10 గ్రూపులు పాల్గొంటున్నాయని, ఒక్కో గ్రూపు నుంచి 15 మంది అమరావతికి వస్తారని తెలిపారు. ఈ పోటీలను వీక్షించేందుకు దేశ విదేశాల నుంచి వేల మంది పర్యాటకులు వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉందని హిమాన్షు చెప్పారు. కేవలం బోటింగ్‌ గ్రూపుల వారే 500 మంది అమరావతికి వస్తున్నట్లు వివరించారు. విజయవాడలోని ఉన్న అన్ని హోటల్‌ రూమ్స్‌ను ముందస్తు బుకింగ్‌ కోసం ఏర్పాట్లు చేస్తున్నామని, అవసరమైన నిధుల కోసం స్పాన్సర్‌ను ఆశ్రయిస్తున్నామని, ఇప్పటికే రూ.4కోట్లు సమకూర్చినట్లు తెలిపారు.
 
30 శాఖల సమన్వయం
వరల్డ్‌ బోట్‌ రేస్‌ చాంపియన్‌షి్‌పను అమరావతిలో విజయవంతంగా నిర్వహించేందుకు 30 శాఖలు సమన్వయంతో పని చేయాల్సిన అవసరం ఉందని హిమాన్షు చెప్పారు. ఈ వివరాలతో 8వ తేదీన సీఎం చంద్రబాబుకు పవర్‌ పాయింట్‌ ప్రజంటేషన్‌ ఇస్తామన్నారు. రేస్‌కు సంబంధించి కృష్ణా, గుంటూరు జిల్లాల్లో ఉన్న 10 కళాశాలల్లో విద్యార్థులకు అవగాహన కల్పిస్తున్నామన్నారు. రేస్‌ చూసేందుకు సుమారు లక్ష మంది వీక్షకులు వస్తారని అంచనా వేస్తున్నారు.

VIJAYAWADA: The sixth round of the UIM World Championship F1H20 will be held at state capital Amaravati. The global event is coming back to India after a gap of 14 years. River Krishna is bracing up to host this racing extravaganza from November 16 to 18.

F1H20 Championship, which is followed by millions of fans worldwide, is held at challenging circuits every year. This year the championship kicked off at Portugal on May 18 and the fifth round was conducted successfully at the Agile Grand Prix in Xiangyang, China. The last leg will be held at Sharjah on December 15.

Team Amaravati will compete with top world teams from Portual, Italy, UAE and France. Team Amaravati made an impressive debut in China on September 23. Jonas Andersson did well in 39 laps to clinch the fourth spot in the main race. The team had also narrowly missed the podium after a close contest with Team Abu Dhabi.

Lead driver Jonas Andersson and his partner Erik Edin are looking forward to cause a few upsets at the home stretch. In fact Jonas made it to the third spot in the BRM qualifications before the race in China.
 
 

In the World Team Championship standings, Team Amaravati is third. Team Abu Dhabi is first while Team CTIC F1 Shenzhen is second.
