That was not the case. Except roads there is no aggression in infra development also. 6-7% GDP growth is peanuts. China grew at 10% for 30-40 years. China grew at 10% for 30-40 years. land acquisition is main issue in irrigation and railways. state governments are not cooperating with center in acquiring land. green field highways are aligned through less developed areas and liberal in fixing in compensation to speed up land acquisition. we can't change alignment easily in case of irrigation and railways , and return on investment is less . so they are not liberal in paying compensation for land acquisition and facing difficulties in acquiring land. one solution for this problem is fixing some fair compensation price and bar courts from interfering in land acquisition. government should give more weightage to social impact of irrigation , railway projects over financial aspects. government can impose cess on petrol , diesel like 10 to 20 rupees over some period to fund these projects. government can freeze hikes in salaries, pensions of employees for 2 decades. I was just about to make the same point. Cost of North south dfc, east coast dfc, east west dfc together is estimated to be 2.2 lakh crore. It will make our industry competitive by bringing down cost of logistics. Cost of bullet train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai is 1.6 lakh crore. By the time of completion it will be 2 lakh crore. Which is more beneficial? Mumbai to Ahmedabad people can travel by air also. Why no DFC in south india? Misplaced priorities is not good leadership. Sadly no one is questioning this.
