This election result will have huge implications on Andhra future. If TDP wins with big majority, we can safely assume that CBN is going to be CM until 2024 which will help him to complete remaining tasks. Like a Grandmaster who strategically moves his pieces on the Chess board, CBN carefully took one step after another over last 6 months to plug weaknesses and cover all aspects in this election game. Even though he somewhat neglected party affairs after coming to power, he did complete justice in this by-poll. Counting will take place tomorrow from 8 am and may be completed by 11:30 AM. One can get an idea on the winner by 10 AM. Counting center: Government Polytechnic College, Nandyal. One bad news shared by Sai: TDP candidate did not submit star campaigners list. The cost of their campaigning may be added to candidate expenses. If combined cost crosses the limit, TDP candiate may be disqualified. I do not have much knowledge on this subject. The admitted fact is that the appellant was one of the star campaigners for the said election for the State of Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, he was required to campaign for his political party, not only in his constituency but also in other constituencies of the State. In the absence of any allegation that the appellant used the helicopter for travelling within 76-Churahat constituency for the purpose of campaigning, the expenditure incurred on that account, in our opinion, cannot be included in the election expenditure of the appellant,” the bench also comprising Justice A M Sapre said. The apex court, however, said that the entire expenditure incurred by star campaigner is not exempted under Section 77 for the purpose of determining the total expenditure incurred by any candidate in an election. “In other words, the expenditure incurred in connection with arrangements like erection of pandals, etc., for a meeting of a star campaigner does not form part of the exempted expenditure under explanation 1,” the bench said.
