IMD mid-day update:

The low pressure area over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal has

become wellmarked and lies over southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Sri Lanka . Associated upper

air cyclonic circulation extends upto midtropospheric levels. The system is likely to move

northwestwards and concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours. It is likely to continue

northwestwards and further concentrate in to a deep depression and cross Tamilnadu coast between

Pamban and Nagapattinam around 17th morning

The well marked low pressure area is currently located at 7.9N 81.2E approximately 200 km north east of Colombo,Srilanka. Land interaction has reduced system's intensity. However the system is expected to track towards north west direction and become *depression* in 24 hours. It is expected to move further and make landfall between Nagapattinam and Rameshwaram Pamban coastal areas by tomorrow.

As many land interactions are happening, system may get some negative affection.

Many parts of Southern coastal areas of TN are already experiencing good rain.

Medium to rather heavy rain is expected in entire Tamilnadu in 24 hours.Rain activity might continue for few days.
