AP Pre poll surveys

The decision of Jana Sena President Pawan Kalyan to opt out of contesting from Gajuwaka in the upcoming 2024 general elections has provided a sigh of relief to TDP activists. Despite losing the 2019 election, TDP candidate Palla Srinivasa Rao has continued to actively work in the Gajuwaka segment, particularly highlighting issues such as the privatization of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Palla’s efforts have garnered appreciation from the local populace, especially those employed in the Steel Plant. Given TDP’s strong presence in Visakhapatnam city and Gajuwaka, Palla is confident that TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu will assign him the party ticket for the Gajuwaka constituency.

The privatization issue, which Palla has been vocally opposing, has further solidified his position among the electorate, especially the workers from the Steel Plant who form a significant portion of the constituency’s population. In contrast, YSRCP has faced internal challenges in Gajuwaka, with frequent changes in the party’s candidate selection.

The appointment of V.Ramachandra Rao (Chandu) and later Gudivada Amarnath as constituency in-charges has led to dissent within the party ranks. Many prominent YSRCP leaders have reportedly expressed reluctance to cooperate with Gudivada Amarnath, indicating potential internal friction within the party.

TDP sees Gajuwaka as a guaranteed seat, especially with the current political dynamics favoring Palla’s candidacy and the internal turmoil within YSRCP. The party is confident that Gajuwaka will be secured in its favor, considering it as a stronghold akin to Kuppam.
