: Here is some good news for aqua farmers. The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has accorded permission for setting up Aquatic Quarantine Facility (AQF) and Brood Stock Multiplication Centre (BMC) in Andhra Pradesh. MoA gave its consent for the projects on July 7. “AQF and BMC will be established in Viskhapatnam district. The estimated cost of the two projects is about Rs. 50 crore and the centres will be set up in a year,” said the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) authorities.

The two projects will be set up in 30 hectares at Bangarammapeta village. MPEDA, and its research unit, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA) will provide necessary technical support for the proposed AQF and BMC, said MPEDA Deputy Director S. Kandan.

“MPEDA achieved all time high in exporting seafood worth about $ 5511.12 million during 2014-15, which decreased by 10 per cent in 2015-16 due to fall in export price in the international market and other issues. The government has set a target for $ 6 million by 2018,” Dr. Kandan told The Hindu .

Stating that the U.S. is the major exporter, followed by South East Asian countries and European Union, the MPEDA official said the Indian Seafood Export Sector is gearing up to meet the challenges in the international market with the cooperation of the stakeholders to increase the exports.

Farmers are forced to go to AQF and BMC located in Chennai for testing the samples. Once the facilities are established in AP, many farmers from coastal districts will benefit, he said.

Stakeholders’ plea

MPEDA Chairman A. Jayathilak, who visited Andhra Pradesh recently, enquired about the problems of the stakeholders. They urged the MPEDA Chairman to set up shrimp testing labs, provide single window for all registrations and permissions for aqua farms and regulate the quality of aqua inputs and chemicals in the State and the chairman responded positively. “There is vast scope for tapping the overseas markets. A common platform will be set up for sustainable aquaculture development with the help of MoA, Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) and the AP Fisheries Department,” said Dr. Jayathilak.

Seafood show to enhance brand image of Vizag

The hosting of 20th India International Seafood Show (IISS) at Port Kalavani Stadium here from September 23 to 25 is all set to enhance brand value of Visakhapatnam as the leading centre for seafood exports mainly frozen shrimp.

 

The mega event will also focus on bringing recognition to Andhra Pradesh as an aquaculture hub particularly in producing Litopenaeus Vannamei (whiteleg shrimp) as its demand has increased significantly in the past few years due to its low cost and culinary value.

 

Theme of event

 

Safety and sustainable aquaculture will be the theme of the show being organised jointly by Marine Product Exports Development Authority (MPEDA) and Seafood Exporters’ Association of India.

 

MPEDA Chairman A. Jayathilak, who visited the city recently to review arrangements, said they were confident of increasing seafood exports by encouraging sustainable fishing and technological upgradation.

 

The show is expected to throw up several opportunities for collaborations.

 

As per a report prepared by MPEDA for 2014-15, Visakhapatnam retained its top position as the leading seafood centre for exports with export of consignments mostly frozen shrimp worth Rs.7,578 crore.

 

During 2015-16, Indian exports were put at US$4.7 billion. The Centre has set a target to raise it to $10 billion by 2020.

 

India is second largest aquaculture producer in the world, largest supplier of shrimp to the United States, second largest shrimp supplier to Europe and fourth largest exporter to Japan. “This is possible due to our success in meeting international regulatory requirements and adapting to best global practices,” a city-based exporter said.

 

Trade delegations from Australia, Canada, and other countries had expressed their willingness during the visit to Visakhapatnam to partner with Indian investors for improvement in fish catching, processing, preservation and ensuring value-added products to increase export potential further.

అంతర్వేది: నిత్యనూతనంగా ఎగసిపడే సాగర కెరటాల నడుమ రమణీయమైన ప్రకృతి సౌందర్యంతో ఆకట్టుకునే అంతర్వేది తీరం సరికొత్త హంగులతో అందరిని ఆకర్షించనుంది. ప్రగతిపథంలో మరో కొత్త ఒరవడిని సృష్టించనుంది. సాగరమాల పథకంలో భాగంగా ఆసియా దేశాల్లోనే తొలిసారిగా డ్రెడ్జింగ్‌ హార్బర్‌ ఏర్పాటుకు ఎంపికైన ఈ ప్రాంతానికి మత్స్య మహర్దశ కూడా పట్టనుంది. అంతర్వేది పల్లిపాలెంలో రూ. 22.38 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో ఫిష్‌ లాండింగ్‌ కేంద్రం ఏర్పాటుకు ప్రభుత్వం అనుమతి ఇచ్చింది. దీనికిగాను త్వరలో భూమిపూజ చేసేందుకు సంబంధిత వశిష్ఠ కన్జర్వెన్సీ రాజోలు ఉప డివిజిన్‌ ఇంజినీరింగ్‌ అధికారులు సన్నాహాలకు ఉపక్రమిస్తున్నారు.

సాగర తీరం.. మత్స్య రాజసం

అంతర్వేది పల్లిపాలెంలో చేపల వేటకు వివిధ జిల్లాల నుంచి ప్రతి రోజూ దాదాపు 200 వేట మర పడవలు వస్తుంటాయి. సుమారు 3 వేల మంది మత్స్యకారులు ఇందులో జీవనోపాధి పొందుతున్నారు. నిత్యం ఇక్కడ రూ. 40 లక్షల వరకు చేపల క్రయవిక్రయాలు జరుగుతుంటాయి. ఇక్కడ ఫిష్‌ లాండింగ్‌ కేంద్రం ఏర్పాటైతే తీరానికి మత్స్య మహర్దశ పట్టనుంది. దీని కోసం ఇప్పటికే 20 ఎకరాలను సేకరించారు. తొలుత రూ. 16.98 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో దీనిని నిర్మించాలని ప్రతిపాదించారు. కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం తన 75 శాతం రూ. 16.78 కోట్లు ఇవ్వడానికి ముందుకు రావడంతో సవరించిన అంచనాలను ఆమోదిస్తూ ఈ నెల 11న ప్రభుత్వం ఉత్తర్వు జారీ చేసింది. దీనికి రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం 25 శాతం వాటా కింద రూ.5.59 కోట్లు కేటాయించనుంది. కేంద్ర, రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వాలు కేటాయించే మొత్తం రూ.22.37 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో ఇది రూపుదిద్దుకోనుంది. దీనికి సంబంధించి మట్టి నమూనా పరీక్షలను తాజాగా చేపట్టారు. బెంగళూరులోని సెంట్రల్‌ ఇనిస్టిట్యూట్‌ ఆఫ్‌ కోస్టల్‌ ఇంజినీరింగ్‌ ఫర్‌ ఫిషరీ(సీఐసీఈఎఫ్‌) దీనికి సంబంధించిన ఆకృతి(డిజైన్‌) రూపొందించింది. ప్రస్తుతం రూపొందించిన ఆకృతిని మరింత నవీకరణ దిశగా మార్పులు చేయనున్నారు.

350 మర పడవలకు ఆశ్రయం

అంతర్వేది పల్లిపాలెంలో నిర్మించనున్న ఫిష్‌ లాండింగ్‌ కేంద్రాన్ని 350 వేట మర పడవలకు ఆశ్రయం కల్పించే సామర్థంతో 140 మీటర్ల పొడవున డయాఫ్రం వాల్‌ను నిర్మించనున్నారు. ప్రస్తుతం 150 నుంచి 200 పడవలు నిలుపుకొనేలా పనులు చేయనున్నారు. దీని పొడవునా డ్రెడ్జింగ్‌ పనులు చేపట్టి చుట్టూ పటిష్ఠంగా రాతికట్టుతో రక్షణ కల్పిస్తారు. చేపల క్రయ విక్రయాలకు, వాటిని ఎండబెట్టుకునేందుకు సిమెంటు కాంక్రీటు ప్లాట్‌ఫారాలను నిర్మించనున్నారు. వేలం పాట నిర్వహించుకునేందుకు విశాలమైన గది, వలలు శుభ్రం చేసుకునేందుకు ప్రత్యేక సదుపాయాలు, మత్స్యకారులకు విశ్రాంతి గదులు, పడవలను బాగు చేసుకునేందుకు ఏర్పాట్లు, మంచినీటి ఓవర్‌హెడ్‌ ట్యాంకు, మరుగుదొడ్లు, అంతర్గత రహదారులు, చుట్టూ ప్రహరీ ఏర్పాటు కానున్నాయి. అల్లవరం మండలం ఓడలరేవు వద్ద చిన్న తరహా ఫిషింగ్‌ లాండింగ్‌ కేంద్రాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు రూ. 3.90 కోట్లు కేటాయించారు. త్వరలో ఇక్కడా పనులు చేపట్టేందుకు కార్యాచరణ జరగనుంది.

త్వరలో భూమిపూజకు కార్యాచరణ

అంతర్వేది పల్లిపాలెంలో ఫిష్‌ లాండింగ్‌ కేంద్రం ఏర్పాటుకు నిర్మాణపరమైన ప్రక్రియ త్వరలో ప్రారంభం కానుంది. దీనికి సంబంధించి బెంగళూరులోని సీఐసీఈఎఫ్‌ నుంచి నమూనా ఆకృతి వచ్చింది. ఇందులో నవీనపరమైన మరికొన్ని మార్పులు చేయనున్నారు. త్వరలో భూమిపూజ చేసి పనులు చేపట్టేందుకు సన్నాహాలు చేస్తున్నాం. తాజాగా అక్కడ మట్టి నమూనాల పరీక్ష జరుగుతోంది. ప్రస్తుతం 150-200 వేట మర పడవలు నిలుపుకునేలా నిర్మాణం జరగనుంది. దీనికి సంబంధించి ఇతర ప్రాంతాల్లో ఉన్న ఈ తరహా నిర్మాణాలను పరిశీలించాం.

Nod for mini fishing harbour in E. Godavari

The Rs. 22-cr. project is a joint initiative of Centre and State.

: The State government has accorded sanction for construction of a mini fishing harbour at Antervedipallipalem in East Godavari district at a cost of Rs. 22.38 crore.

The project is being constructed under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with State and Central government funds. The Fisheries Department will allocate funds from Fisheries Development Scheme and Fish Policy. The mini harbour would be completed by October next year, said Commissioner of Fisheries Rama Shankar Naik.

Fishing harbour, also known as Fish Land Centre, will have the facility to halt mechanised boats, storage and auctioning the produce. The Executive Engineer, Godavari Head Works of Dowleswaram, will execute the works.

“A jetty will be constructed at the mini fishing harbour. It will benefit fishermen in East and West Godavari districts,” said Mr. Shankar Naik.

More in the offing

The Fisheries Department has identified Juvvaladinne in Nellore district, Vodarevu in Prakasam, Uppada and Biyyapu Tippa villages in East Godavari and Pudimadaka in Visakhapatnam districts for constructing mini harbours. Fish Land Centres would also be constructed on the coast in Srikakulam, Guntur and Krishna districts, he said.

“We have sent a proposal to the Government of India for constructing a harbour at Biyyapu Tippa in 25 acres, which was given to the Fisheries Department. The Nizampatnam and Machilipatnam and Krishnapatnam harbours will be developed in a phased manner,” he said.

Following the proposals, the Centre has entrusted Water and Power Consultancy Services Limited (WAPCOS) to take up investigation and prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

“Wapcos will study on the economic impact assessment, engineering, soil testing, technical feasibility and the estimations of the mini harbours in the State,” the Commissioner told The Hindu . The theme of constructing the projects is to improve infrastructure thereby helping the fishermen community for hygienic handling of fish, storage and marketing their produce

As there were no fishing harbours in Machilipatnam, Nizampatnam and Krishnapatnam, fishermen are finding it difficult to catch fish and many are migrating.

“There is a potential for fishing and boost the exports from Andhra Pradesh. Like other States, we are planning to set up hatcheries, processing, packing and export units in all coastal districts, which will improve the livelihood of fishermen,” Mr. Shankar Naik sai

రెండేళ్లుగా సముద్ర ఆహార ఉత్పత్తుల ఎగుమతుల్లో ఏపీ అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉంది. అప్పటి వరకూ 7.33గా ఉన్న ఎగుమతుల రేటు రెండేళ్లుగా రెండంకెల్లో ఉంది.

10.6 శాతం దాటింది. అప్పటి వరకూ అగ్రస్థానంలో ఉన్న కేరళను మించిపోయింది. రొయ్యలసాగు గత రెండేళ్లలో 31 శాతం పెరిగింది. ఇదంతా మెరైన్ ప్రొడక్ట్స్ ఎక్స్ పోర్ట్స్ డెవలప్ మెంట్ అథారిటీ చెబుతున్న డేటా. ఏపీ నుంచి ఏటా దాదాపు 9,200 కోట్ల ఎగుమతులు జరుగుతుంటే… ఒక్క విశాఖ పోర్టు నుంచే 7500 కోట్ల మేర ఉత్పత్తులు ఎక్స్ పోర్ట్ కి వెళుతున్నాయ్. ఓ రకంగా విశాఖ సముద్ర ఆహార ఉత్పత్తులకి కేపిటల్. అందుకే ఇపుడు ఇంత సందడి.

ఇప్పుడు కనిపిస్తున్న గ్రోత్ రెండేళ్లుగా బాగానే ఉంది. కానీ దీన్ని దీర్ఘకాలంలో నిలబెట్టుకోవాలంటే మాత్రం పక్క ప్లాన్ కావాలి. ఏరకంగా నిలదొక్కుకోగల్గుతాం… కొత్తవ్యూహాలు ఏముంటాయ్… లాంటివన్నీ ఆలోచించాలి. ఎలాగూ గోదావరి జిల్లాల్లో మినీ పోర్టులు లాంటివి వస్తున్నాయ్ కాబట్టి ఇన్ ఫ్రాకి ఢోకా ఉండదు. ఇపుడు ఆదే పనిలో ఉన్నట్టుంది ఏపీ !

అమరావతి (ఆంధ్రజ్యోతి): రాష్ట్రంలో ఆక్వా ఉత్పత్తులను రెట్టింపు చేసేందుకు ప్రభుత్వం కొత్త విధానాలకు శ్రీకారం చుడుతోంది. రాష్ట్రంలో ఉన్న ఆక్వా లేబొరేటరీలన్నింటిని తన పరిధిలోకి తీసుకోవాలని నిర్ణయించిన ప్రభుత్వం.. ఇప్పుడు కొత్తగా జోనింగ్‌ వ్యవస్థను అందుబాటులోకి తీసుకురావాలని నిర్ణయించింది. రాష్ట్రంలో ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ చేయాలని భావించే రైతులకు కొన్ని చోట్ల వ్యవసాయం చేసే వారి నుంచి చాలా ఇబ్బందులు ఎదురవుతున్నాయి. వ్యవసాయం చేస్తున్న ప్రదేశాల్లో రొయ్యలు, చేపల చెరువుల ఏర్పాటుకు అనుమతుల కోసం ఆక్వా రైతులు చాలా ఇబ్బందులు పడాల్సి వస్తోంది. దీనిని అధిగమించడం కోసం ప్రభుత్వం కొత్తగా ఆక్వా జోన్లు ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని నిర్ణయించింది. జోన్ల వ్యవస్థతో ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ వైపు మొగ్గు చూపే రైతులు అనుమతులు తీసుకునే సమయంలో నిబంధనలను కొంత వరకూ సడలించవచ్చని ప్రభుత్వం భావిస్తోంది. జోన్లు వల్ల రైతులను ఎక్కువ శాతం ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ వైపు ఆకర్షించడమే కాకుండా.. ఆక్వా ఉత్పత్తులను పెంచవచ్చని ప్రభుత్వం భావిస్తోంది. అందులో భాగంగానే జిల్లాల్లో ఎక్కువ శాతం ఆక్వాకల్చర్‌ ఉండే ప్రదేశాలను ఆక్వా జోన్లుగా ప్రకటించాలని నిర్ణయించింది. ప్రస్తుతం రాష్ట్రంలో ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ అధికంగా ఉండే తూర్పు, పశ్చిమ గోదావరి, కృష్ణా, గుంటూరు, ప్రకాశం, నెల్లూరు జిల్లాల్లో మొదట విడతగా జోన్లు ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని అధికారులు నిర్ణయించారు. జిల్లాల్లో ఎక్కువ ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ ఎక్కడ జరుగుతుందో గుర్తించి ఆ ప్రదేశాన్ని ఆక్వా జోన్‌గా ప్రకటిస్తారు. జోన్లుగా ప్రకటించిన ప్రదేశాల్లో 65 నుంచి 70 శాతం ఆక్వా కల్చర్‌ ఉండాలి. జిల్లాల వారిగా జోన్లును గుర్తించేందుకు ప్రభుత్వం ప్రత్యేకంగా ఒక కమిటీని నియమించింది. కమిటీలో జిల్లా కలెక్టర్‌ చైర్మన్‌గా ఉంటారు. ఆయనతో పాటు విజయవాడలో ఉండే రీజనల్‌ రీసెర్చ్‌ సెంటర్‌ ప్రిన్సిపల్‌ సైంటిస్ట్‌, ఎంపెడా డిప్యూటీ డైరెక్టర్‌, విశాఖపట్నంలో ఉండే సిఎంఎ్‌ఫఆర్‌ఐ రీజనల్‌ సెంటర్‌ సైంటిస్ట్‌ ఇన్‌చార్జితో పాటు జిల్లా మత్స్యశాఖ అధికారి మెంబర్లుగా ఉం టారు. కమిటీల్లో జిల్లాల వారిగా జిల్లా కలెక్టర్‌, మత్స్యశాఖ అధికారి మారుతారు.. మిగిలిన మెంబర్లు అందరూ జిల్లాలన్నింటికి ఒక్కరే ఉంటారు.
