pervez Posted December 5, 2013 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s image in the IT sector got a big boost on Wednesday with the IT giant Oracle announcing that its office in the city would become its biggest outside the United States. Oracle president Mark Vicent Hurd will soon be visiting the state to ink the details. IT minister C. Ponnala Lakshmaiah confirmed that the company had conveyed its decision after a series of deliberations. “The IT giant will be expanding its office here as their biggest facility outside of the United States. They have deliberated and decided and the president of the company will soon be visiting Hyderabad,” said the minister. Other big IT companies who have announced their expansion plans in Hyderabad include Amazon, TCS and Infosys. There are about 1,268 IT companies registered in the state, of which almost 90 per cent have a substantial amount of business in the US. Andhra Pradesh is home to US-based IT giants like Microsoft, Google, Facebook, IBM, Dell and Motorola, apart from Oracle, and domestic majors like TCS, Wipro and Infosys. The IT sector had been shaken by the unrest in the city over the last couple of years over the Telangana issue, but that seems to be passing with the statehood row moving towards resolution. Industry Modies had maintained that they want a peaceful working atmosphere and were not interested in local issues. If only CBN had given equal importance to other cities the scenario would have been difficult,but then would he have listened even if someone dared to? My company [the company I used to work for, incidentally the first company to but space in hitech city] took exactly three months to start operations from scratch, would it even be possible to zero in on the land in three months for a manufacturing unit? Recruitment going at very high pace is China... Also many keralites(Malayalis) showing interest to move to Oracle Cochin development center in Kerala.. In India Managers and directors not getting approvals at good quantity to recruit new members in India teams(Hyd teams).... Even if Oracle expands, quantity will be very less...
