Vamsik_hyd Posted March 5, 2015 Share Posted March 5, 2015 Living standard: Hyderabad ranks No 1 in India, 138 globally OUR BUREAU Mercer’s report attributes position to improved amenities Hyderabad, March 4: Ranked 138 globally, Hyderabad was the top Indian city in the quality of living ranking with Pune pegged at 145. Mercer’s Quality of Living Report 2015 highlights that Indian cities haven’t made much progress on the quality of living scale, scoring nearly the same as they did last year. Other runners Bengaluru has been ranked 146, Chennai (151), Mumbai (152), New Delhi (154) and Kolkata (160) in the report. The report states Hyderabad has emerged as a city of choice due to factors such as improved options for schools. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, which offers a good range of international flights, has been considered to improve its ranking on account of public services. Both Hyderabad and Pune cities rank higher for quality of living than the country’s more traditional business centres. “The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently published data on pollution around the world suggesting that 13 of the world's 20 most-polluted cities are all in India, this impacts the overall scores of Indian cities,” Ruchika Pal, India Practice Leader, Global Mobility at Mercer. Vienna has been rated as the city with the best quality of living in the world for the second consecutive time.
