I am not saying he does not deserve it, but trying to put him against NTR was a catalyst to give him the award. Same happened with Sivaji in TN, Cong. put him opposite to MGR's party. MGR ki Tamil Nadu vallu Bharata Ratna ippinchukunnaru and we failed miserably in doing that. ANR was a contemporary of greats like NTR, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor. But we all know how NTR and ANR are covered.
