Kempegowda want to build Bangalore like fortress. He understood the value of water. He built multiple lakes in Bangalore and linked them through canals. He planted trees . Even after his death people continued to plant trees. Trees reduced temperature which makes clouds to rain. Bangalore became cool and self sufficient in water.

Unfortunately Bangalore lost 85 percent of vegetation due to urbanization. Bangalore peak temperature in summer increasing each year.

Kempegowda in one of the inscriptions declared that his mother tongue is Telugu. Lot of vokkaligas and lingayats in Kolar, Bellary, Rayachuru districts still speak Telugu at home though they intermarry with their kannada speaking caste members.

Okkaligas mother tongue is either Kannada or Telugu depending on the region. Telugu speaking okkaligas are less in number bordering AP and Telangana.  The inscription laid by KempeGowda himself states that his mother tongue is Telugu.  Krishna Devaraya's father tongue is Tulu, Mother tongue is Telugu.

Greatness of Vijayanagara rule. One can clearly see their foresight. On the other hand look at Hyderabad, Most unplanned city among the Southindian cities.

Bangalore might have been a planned city then, but as of today most corrupt and pathetic planning wise. It is not at all livable today. They do not know what infrastructure needs are. Hyderabad is 1000 times better than Bangalore.

All metro cities facing same issues due to human greed. Development without protecting environment is not sustainable. We are witnessing environment degradation effects in delhi. In delhi people have to purchase water purifier, air purifier, air conditioner.

If you have time read above article completely. It gives details about how kempegowda improved Bangalore environment and How urbanization degraded Bangalore environment.
