charles1.jpg Charles Darby is an internationally renowned award winning Visual Effects Supervisor with decades of experience on Hollywood hits like Titanic, Harry Potter and Minority Report among several others. Charles’ trendsetting work as a leading luminary in visual story telling was appreciated by none other than the likes of James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic), Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) and Janusz Kaminski (Minority Report, Jerry Maguire) and Michael Bay (Transformers, Pearl Harbor) to name a few. With over 45 feature films under his belt, Charles Darby has created some of the most memorable visual effects in modern cinema for movies like “Armageddon”, “The Fifth Element”, “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” to name just a few. Charles was awarded an Emmy for his work on HBO’s “Rome” in 2006. His aim with EyeQube is to build a Hollywood style effects house, employing its methods and proven pipelines within a world class company in India.

Mini Biography

 

Charles Darby has secured his status as a pioneer of the contemporary art of matte painting, not only for his sheer artistry but for being one of the first, if not the first to create matte paintings in a digital format. His groundbreaking work on "Titanic" and Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element" established him as an industry leader in the mid 1990s. Since then he has worked on such films as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "The Matrix", "Minority Report", "IRobot" and the most recent "Harry Potter" films.

 

Charles Darby is a classical painter who exhibits his work around the world. He lived and worked in Hollywood working for over forty feature film projects before returning to Europe.

 

Darby was awarded at Emmy For "Rome" in 2006 and was awarded a fellowship by the BKSTS at Pinewood Studios for his contribution to film.

 

He continues to produce some of the most complex and artistic matte shots in cinema today and has founded EyeQube Studios to produce high-end visual effects for film. The first film he supervised in India "Aladin" contained the most complicated VFX to date and won numerous awards including the 2010 IFFA Award.
