After tea on the fifth day of first test at Melbourne , in 1979, Australia with seven wickets in hand and only 77 runs needed for victory appeared to have achieved it. But then fiery Pakistan speedster Sarfraz Nawaz took charge and the match was at an end within an hour - as Aussies from 305/3 went down to 310/10.

Sarfraz's personal contribution of seven wickets for 1 run from 33 deliveries represented one of the greatest bowling feats in the history of Test cricket.

Damien Fleming's Test career began spectacularly with a hat-trick in his first match against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in 1994.

Thus he became one of the three players who have taken a hat-trick on their Test debut. Others being English medium pace bowler Maurice Allom and New Zealand off-spinner Peter Petherick.

In the second test of India's tour of Bangladesh in 2007, Indian top order took maximum mileage on mediocre Bangladesh bowling line up. It resulted in the first time in Test history in which all the top four scored centuries.

The maestro four includes Wasim Jaffer(138), Dinesh Karthik(129), Rahul Dravid(129) and Sachin Tendulkar(122*).

A flashback to 15 years ago, when Pakistan famously won over Australia in Karachi which went down to the wire. Chasing 314 to win, Pakistan were 258-9 and the last pair Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed added 57 to taste the success.

The winning runs came when Ian Healy missed the stumping of Inzamam facing Warne that went for 4 byes.

In One Day Internationals, there are 50 instances when a team thrashed opponent and reached target with 180+ balls remaining (30 Overs).

Former ODI champions India and current No. 1 Australia are the only two opponents that have not tasted this bitter result.

In the second test of India's tour of New Zealand in 2002, the visitors were all out for 99 in their first innings. Scorching pacer Zaheer Khan demolished New Zealand for 94 on his way to best figures of 5/29 in 13.2 Overs.

Thus India's score became the lowest innings total from which the team batting first has secured a first innings lead.

In the opening Test of the 1912 Triangular Tournament, playing against South Africa at Old Trafford, Jimmy Matthews, a tough Aussie leg spinner created history for being the only player to have ever taken hat-trick in each innings of a Test match.

None of the dismissals required the assistance of any fielders: two were bowled, two were leg before wicket and two more caught and bowled!!!

Nazar Mohammad, carried the bat in the second Test against India, at Lucknow, 1952, which made him the first Pakistani to achieve the feat in tests.

His son Mudassar Nazar carried the bat in Lahore in 1982-83 against India and thus became the only father-son combination to carry the bat in test cricket.

When Thilan Samaraweera scored the winning knock of 105* against India in the ongoing Tri-Nation tournament, he joined Jeremy Bray, Ireland opener, who scored 2 ODI hundreds but without a half century.

Samaraweera's other best scores were his maiden century(104) against New Zealand in 2009 and then 41* against Bangladesh on 4th Jan, 2010.

Last time I posted an unwelcome feat(Diamond-King Pair) achieved by Javed Omar, that portrays him as not the best at opening slot. However, on his Test debut in April 2001, he carried his bat for unbeaten 85 and thus becoming only the third player in history to achieve this on debut match.

In 1996, in the first test against Zimbabwe, at Bulwayo, chasing 205 in 37 Overs, England went into the final over needing 11 to win.

Well settled opener Nick Knight(96) hit the third ball for six and tension prevailed all over, 3 runs were needed off the final ball, but only 2 were scored as Nick Night was run-out!!!

This is the first ever Test match to end drawn with the scores level.
