I went back to the stats

2018 - CSK winner , 2019-  CSK finalist , 2020 - MI winner

has lost to 8th place team at least once in league and the other team who will play in final will not loose to 8th place team

(2016, 2017 it didn't happen you know the reason)

Same 2015 - MI won, 2014 - KKR won, 2013- MI won

2012 - CSK finalist, 2011 - 2nd match didn't happen due to rain

2010 - both finalist teams lost to 8th place team

2009- csk finalist, 2008- 2nd match didn't happen due to rain

So generally one team who lost to 8th team has to go final that's the stat

In this IPL RCB is the only team that lost to SRH and delhi tied with SRH but won in super over.

CSK MI and KKR didn't loose to SRH until now

By this probability wise final teams will be

1. CSK vs RCB (highest probability)

2. CSK vs DC (Considering dc win in super over as tie)

3. DC vs RCB

4. DC vs KKR/MI and the least possible option is

5. CSK vs KKR/MI
