GOLI SODA Posted July 28, 2017 Share Posted July 28, 2017 While Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bastion- Gujarat got relief sanctioned of Rs 500 crore, its less fortunate fellow BJP-ruled state Assam recently got an inter-ministerial team. While Prime Minister's home state just got handed a relief package of Rs 500 crore for the flood-affected districts, ex-gratia for the injured and kin of the deceased, the less fortunate north-eastern state of Assam is still lurking for attention. Injured are entitled to compensation of Rs 50,000, while the kin of deceased will get Rs 2 lakh as relief- but only in Gujarat. Assam has been reeling under the worst ever flood situation in decades, nearly 17 lakh people's lives have been rummaged, over 77 killed, swathes of croplands inundated and an inter-ministerial team started for the state only on Tuesday, July 25.
