NTR in Temper

Director Puri Jagannath loves to highlight the grey shades in his hero and gives his films a negative title, makes it a habit to blame destiny and in the garb of colloquial language, uses profanity on women. His stories are most often recycled but the audiences tend to ignore it because of his strength in writing dialogues. They are witty, logical, philosophical and highly populist and never mind if we have seen and heard it before, he gives it a different flavour and colour. This time it is another Businessman-like story but written by Vakkantham Vamsi, that has a more intense script and a finer finish, packed with the auteur’s punch in dialogues delivering wholesome entertainment.

Taking the clichéd ‘bad cop turning good’ plot forward, Jagan opens the movie with a badly bruised NTR (Daya) on a beach narrating his past; the prelude is filled with lines as to how he is used to being mauled by life and why such knocks are necessary to turn human. For at least a two good hours, we see NTR’s bromance with another baddie Waltair Vasu (Prakash Raj) and it is only when the story is inching towards the climax, the bad SI Daya undergoes a sudden transformation. What makes one root for the story is the credibility with which NTR performs, after Yamadonga this is by far one of his finest works. If the dialogues help him show the brutality in him, the speechless moments that he portrays in the court in the final scenes show what a fine actor he is. Giving away the story would be like stripping the film of its high point but there are cringe-worthy moments as well.

Director: Puri Jagan
Cast: NTR, Kajal
Music: Anup Reubens
Plot: A bad cop turns good in the final moments and how!
Bottomline: The hero is Vakkantham’s script

Posani Muralikrishna knocking the gates of the judge’s home just before the criminals are being hanged reminds one of the 60s and 70s movies and is laugh inducing. The romance between NTR and Kajal is insouciant as ever and a certain dialogue again brings out the perversion of the director. The strength of the story lies in Puri Jagan’s clarity, at no moment he is in a hurry or tempted to show the hero’s softer side.

Posani Krishna Murali’s role is crucial in holding a mirror to the inspector’s character throughout the film. The songs too come in at the right time and place. Kajal does a good job but she will find herself out of the race if she doesn’t watch her weight. Prakash Raj is a pleasure to watch and Vennela Kishore goes on harping that he is a flutist, not a flautist.

What this film needed desperately was personality and character and this time it gets both. Prakash Raj tells NTR on one occasion ‘neeku Sunny Leone ni gift isthunna’, poor Ms Leone, she finds herself being used liberally despite the Censor Cuts. Anup Reubens continues his success streak by dishing out the best number in the film Ne Panikimalina Yedava.... The most hilarious part of the film though is showing NTR as a child growing up watching cop films aspiring to be a cop and guess whose films they are? Obviously grandfather’s, father’s and uncle’s. There is no separate comedy track as such but this is a fun film just not for NTR fans. NTR at his best!

Cast: Jr NTR , Kajal Agarwal, Prakash Raj
Director: Puri Jagannath

The one actor who has been looking for a big hit is Jr. NTR Almost 11 years after Andhrawala, he teams up again with director Puri Jagannathi for Temper. This film has generated a lot of curiosity among the film industry insiders as well as the trade pundits. Kajal Agarwal plays the female lead, while Bandla Ganesh is the producer.

Daya (Jr NTR ) is a corrupt police officer who will do anything for money. He is transferred to Vizag and there he joins hands with local goon Waltair Vasu (Prakash Raj) and earns a lot of money. Shanvi (Kajal) comes into Daya’s life and from here the story takes a turn as Shanvi is kidnapped by Waltair Vasu.

An angry Daya then turns against Vasu. When he starts an enquiry, he is startled to discover that there is a bigger motive behind the kidnap. The film begins very interestingly and the director quickly establishes Daya’s character. Puri himself has written the dialogues and as in his recent films, here too the dialogues are hard hitting.

This is by far one of Jr NTR’s best films. It is the ideal comeback he needed and he simply lives the role of Daya. Coupled with intense dialogue delivery, he is a winner all the way. Prakash Raj does his role with ease as he always does.

Kajal looks good and so does Madhurima. Posani Krishna Murali provides a few laughs as Jr NTR’s sidekick. Ali and Sapthagiri are wasted. Madhurima, JP and others are passable.

Anup Rubens’ music is okay and Mani Sharma’s background score is fantastic. Sam K Naidu’s cinematography is eye catching. Vakkantham Vamsi who has written the story should have added more spice in the first half which tends to drag a bit. But the twist in the latter half makes up for it.

This Is a Comeback Film for NTR Fri 13th Feb 2015 07:13 PM

1423834982_ntr.jpg

This is what the fans desired for, from Young Tiger Ntr. They had to wait for a long time for a hit from Ntr. Finally, their thirst has been quenched. This is not just the reason for their gratification. Much to their amusement, Ntr excelled with tremendous performance and good dancing steps in the movie. Finally, fans have raised their collars. Since it being the first day of the release, the range of the movie cannot be estimated. But the way the positive word of mouth received by the movie, is definitely encouraging for the makers. Let's hope for the best of the movie.

Puri Jagannadh, who directed the movie, gets full credit for penning powerful dialogues and maintaining racy screen play. Kajal was seen opposite to Ntr in the movie with ample dosage of glamour. Bandla Ganesh has produced the movie on Parameswara Art Productions.

Movie Review: Junior NTR is terrific in 'Temper'   'Temper': Jr. NTR saves a regular Puri Jagannadh film By Haricharan Pudipeddi (IANS) Sat, Feb 14, 2015 11:37:27 GMT comment.gif

Temper movie review; Cast: Jr NTR, Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj, Posani Krishna Murali, Jayaprakash Reddy, Ali, Saptagiri, Kovai Sarla and Rama Prabha; Director: Puri Jagannadh; Rating: ***

Puri Jagannadh's heroes are eccentric with shades of grey. They're highly romantic and occasionally patriotic too. Puri likes to highlight the eccentricity in his heroes, say a Mahesh Babu in "Pokkiri" and "Businessman" or Pawan Kalyan in "Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu" with a purpose, and that has worked in his favour in all his stories, including in his latest outing "Temper", about a bad policeman who gets transformed over an incident.

Junior NTR plays Daya, an orphan, who grows up to become a police officer because he believes it's the only legitimate job in which he can make as much money as he wants and nobody will ask him questions. He considers himself an animal, which he is, because he's heartless (he introduces himself as a man with no sympathy) when he forces the owner of a property (worth Rs.5 crore) to sell it at a much lower price and tells a heartbroken mother that her daughter might have eloped when she comes to file a missing person complaint.

Daya is accompanied by an honest and self righteous police constable Murthy, played fittingly by Posani Krishna Murali, and this character reminds us of his inner conscience. If Daya had an inner voice, it'd be like Murthy, who wouldn't salute him because of his bad deeds and wishes for a tsunami (a metaphor) to come and sweep him away.

Trailer: Jr. NTR is a daredevil cop in ‘Temper’

Although Puri's stories are cliched, his characters offer viewers something different in all his films. In one of the best scenes in the film, a young Daya is told by his caretaker that the only difference between them (small-time crooks) and a bad policeman is the khaki. And when Daya eventually becomes a policeman, he avoids wearing the uniform because deep down, he still respects it but not the job so much, not the system and people who control it. The only time he wears the khaki in the entire film is after he's transformed for good.

There are some good as well bad moments in the film. In a touching scene, when Daya gets the old man his property back, he feels sorry because he never had anyone in his life to show him right from wrong. He goes on to tell him that as a growing up orphan he was always bothered about merely living than ever concerned about how to live. These subtle touches by Puri strike the right chords and make you root for the antihero.

NTR is at his best in "Temper" and his performance is nothing short of spectacular as Daya. While the transformation doesn't come as a surprise, the variation he brings to his character through the dialogues, attitude and mannerism, is outstanding. Prakash Raj is no longer the villain you once loved. He's been reduced to a comic villain and he's starting to get stereotyped in these roles. He's no longer the villain who strikes fear in the hearts of the viewers but he's just the bad guy, who'll end up making you laugh at his weaknesses.

Some of Puri's lines are unmatchable and give you a high when delivered by NTR.
