you got me before I could delete the post. they are just penstock not tunnels. but odisha power generation on Sabari (Kolab) is through tunnel.

yeah, amazing feat. because of the height of shivsagar reservoir head, they were able to generate almost 2000 MW total from less water for longer period.
we also have similar multistage generation on Sileru.

Kolekwadi dam western end of western ghats lo vuntadi sivasagar eastren end lo vuntadi
Kolkewadi dam is fed from back waters of shivsagar reservoir after power generation through tunnel. that water is used in further stages of power generation. if power generaion is not needed, that tunnel can be stopped and same water can be released to Koyna downstream (to krishna).

For all practical purposes, Srisailam, NS and Pulichinata anni TG control lo ne vunnayi either direct control or through power generators. krishna river management board is toothless. They can drain all these dams if they want. for e.g. from srisailam left bank power generators they can discharge 45000 cusecs (4 TMC/day).

coffer dam never overflows, if it does it is gone. generally, coffer dam hight kante spillway gates are set at lower height. excess water flows through spillway dam.
I remember reading coffer dam live storage (usable without lift) is 15 TMC only. So it can be used as buffer to provide water in a dry spell up to 7-10 days.

right canal (gravity) can support delta fully (17k cusecs). pattiseema is only half.

TG doesn't care for water to lift on krishna. They use it for power generation. Water Oka level (approx 6 tmc) reach Ayina tarivatha power start chesukovatchu ani vundi. It's cheap power (around 2rs) compared to thermal (around 5 rs)
Oka sari power start chesthe within 15 days kali.
Dammugudem- tailpond is the best solution for both TG and AP. May be CBN will try with center once polavaram is in a good shape. (Annagaru ee subject mida clear ga rasaru ee related threads lo)
TG "do" care for water from krishna. lifting water from pulichintala is much cheaper than all his other lift schemes. However, AP division bill gave the water to AP. that stops him from doing so.
Dammugudem-NS tailpond project is gone case. no amount of central pressure can make it happen. It is political suicide for central parties to force it on TG.

ippudu kashtam brother. best we could do now is to build another barrage down stream of pulichintala and lift water from it to buggavagu. or an aqueduct across krishna river and take water directly to Guntur district. (it is one of the options in Godavari-Penna inter link design).

even 100 TMC storage is a long stretch considering the cost/cases involved in R&R unless equations change at center in 2019 (only if central govt depends on our MPs support).
looks like 60 TMC is the max we can store without any controversies. That is good enough buffer to support flow during dry spells with-in rainy season (through lifts)
