Kolkewadi dam is fed from back waters of shivsagar reservoir after power generation through tunnel. that water is used in further stages of power generation. if power generaion is not needed, that tunnel can be stopped and same water can be released to Koyna downstream (to krishna).

your info is correct but looks like there is a typo bro.coffer dam never overflows, if it does it is gone. generally, coffer dam hight kante spillway gates are set at lower height. excess water flows through spillway dam. I remember reading coffer dam live storage (usable without lift) is 15 TMC only. So it can be used as buffer to provide water in a dry spell up to 7-10 days.

TG "do" care for water from krishna. lifting water from pulichintala is much cheaper than all his other lift schemes. However, AP division bill gave the water to AP. that stops him from doing so.
