@AnnaGaru, this is through Buckingham/Kommamuru canal not through Guntur channel. Probably guntur channel capacity (expandable) is not good enough. It is unlikely to get 1000-3000 cusecs at present tail end of Guntur Channel. Even through buckingham canal, they are talking about just 10 TMC transfer. It is quick and cheap plan to transfer some water to Prakasam but can not be called a replacement for 400 TMC plan.

Minister clearly said "construction cost of irrigation component" only. most of the recent cost escalation was due to changes in land acquisition/R&R. Center is not going to pay for them any way. So, it is not as drastic as it looks.
