Ramcharan partner company getting Dagadarthi airport works Now YSRCP accusing this as collusion of CBN&PK /*** A top official from the state government had announced its inability to take up the much-awaited Greenfield airport at Dagadarthi some time ago. People believed it and there were some protests too on the decision. But, amusingly, the issue came up within a couple of months at state government level where an aviation group had moved proposals to bag the development works that are now at approval level. Highlights: The aviation company submitted the highest bid which would naturally be considered by the state government Principal Secretary of Infrastructure and Investments Ajay Jain says the proposals have been placed before the Cabinet for final approval Interestingly, Jain had announced in May that the project would be shelved due to budget constraints as the farmers were demanding huge compensation for lands Now, analysts opine that the state government had played a mind game pretending to shelve Dagadarthi airport, but works of the project have reportedly been okayed to Turbo Megha group owned by Tollywood actor Ram Charan. Sources in the state government said the group bagged the works for development keeping good revenue from cargo business in view. It may be recalled that Turbo Megha group runs Truejet Airlines. Principal Secretary of Infrastructure and Investments Ajay Jain had said here on May 18 that they had dropped the proposal and considering it in some other district owing to local issues saying there was no cooperation from the local farmers who demanded huge compensation for lands. Hence, he said, they had dropped the idea due to budget constraints even though around Rs. 20 crore was spent on land acquisition process. “The highest bidder was the Turbo Megha group and the proposals were placed before the Cabinet for approval. The concerned Minister will announce the decision according to the government’s plans,” said Ajay Jain talking to the Hans India. In fact, Bhogapuram International Airport Corporation Limited (BIACL) had received only two bids in which Ram Charan’s group was one among them which offered the highest amount. There would be no hurdles for approvals to the group since it was highest bidder, according to sources. “Why the senior officials of the state government had initially announced shelving the airport proposals and then proceeded with the bids? It seems some kind of ‘management’ at government level transpired which was in favour of a group related to Pawan Kalyan. How can we expect integrity from the Government,” said a senior leader from the YSR Congress. Andhra Pradesh's Infrastructure and Investment Department wrote to Airports Authority of India (AAI) seeking development of a new airport at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district in Dec 2014 and it was changed to Dagadarthi subsequently. In January 2016, Bhogapuram International Airport Corporation invited requests for selection of developers for a low cost greenfield airport model at Dagadarthi. The union ministry of Civil Aviation had accorded approval for development of the airport, committee on Greenfield airports headed by the Secretary, GoI, announced the decision in the same year. In January this year, the state government had considered for changing the proposed site and declared shelving the project in May. But, the hush-hush process still continued and bids were filed and Turbo Megha aviation group had won the tender process submitting the highest bid which would invest above Rs. 200 crore for development of the airport.

Good news confirmed Hyderabad: The Srisailam dam will receive the first inflows from upstream in the first week of September. Chief Engineer of the dam, C Narayana Reddy, told this newspaper on Wednesday that due to considerable rains in the Mahabaleshwar area (in Maharashtra), the Almatti dam in Karnataka has started receiving fresh inflows of around 30,000 cusecs, which is likely to go up to 50,000 cusecs tomorrow. “Since the Almatti is already full, the dam authorities will have to release the surplus to Narayanapur dam, from where the Krishna flows down to Jurala in Telangana state, and from there to Srisailam. We expect that by September 2 or 3, Srisailam will receive the first inflows from upstream,” Mr Reddy said. Srisailam did not get inflows in June, July and August and only meagre inflows from the local catchment areas. There is more good news for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, as the Ujjain dam in Maharashtra, built across the Bheema river, filled up on Tuesday night and 40,000 cusecs of surplus water was released from the crest gates. The Ujjain dam is located 450 km upstream of the Jurala project where the Bheema river, one of the tributaries of the Krishna, joins the main river a few kilometres upstream of Jurala. “There are no reservoirs between Ujjain and Jurala. Bheema waters will directly reach Jurala, but it will take a minimum of four days for the flows to reach,” said Jurala Chief Engineer T. Khagender. He said that at present, Jurala is getting around 9000 cusecs of flood generated water due to rains in its catchment area, and once water from Narayanapur and Ujjain reaches Jurala, the dam gates will have to be lifted to release the entire surplus to the Srisailam dam. Central Water Commission officials say rain in Mahabaleshwar will continue for another week, resulting in inflows of anywhere between 40,000 and 60,000 cusecs into the Almatti Dam.

Singapore’s dedicated team works on Amaravati World-Bank funded projects being assessed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (in white) at launch of Amaravati with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu (in beige) . A dedicated team from a Singapore consortium is marketing to potential investors for development of various facilities of Amaravati, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh, according to a report from the south Indian state. A team from Ascnedas-Singbridge and Sembcorp, Singpore’s top industrial groups, is also finalizing designs for Amarvati, which is to be developed in various phases. Singapore’s Surbana Jurong Pte Ltd have done the masterplan for the greenfield city, which will be India’s first smart city development. It is also preparing to partner with investors/developers in undertaking phase-based projects in Amaravati. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP-CRDA) Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar told The Hindu “They (Singapore companies) are focussing on the transformation of the entire region from the infrastructure point of view also.” The CRDA is holding public consultations on the social and environmental impact of the projects in the new city, particularly those supported by the World Bank. “A proper assessment of the World Bank-funded projects is a must and we have to submit detailed reports to it, lest the works should fall in jeopardy,” the Capital Region Development Authority chief stressed to The Hindu. fii-news.com http://www.fii-news.com/singapores-dedicated-team-works-amaravati/
