BalayyaTarak Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 4 hours ago, ravindras said: kaleshwaram super project. current capacity 2 tmc/day . in future they are going to lift 3 tmc/day which requires 7300 MW power. for 2 tmc they are spending 85,000 crore for additional 1 tmc they will spend 25,000 crores . total 1.1 lakh crores they have plans to lift 600 tmc water in each year. ie on average they are planning to lift water for 200 days. power consumption in units(kwh) 7300*200*24* 1000 = 3504,00,00,000 units 3504 crore units let us assume each unit power cost varies from 5 to 6 total cost varies from 17520 to 21024 crores . now we have to add maintenance charges for motors, pumps, transformers, pipes etc . we need to add interest cost for initial investment 1.1 lakh crore which comes to 11,000 crore total charges will be 21,000+11,000+maintenance cost . roughly it will come to 35,000 crores per year 1 tmc water sufficient to irrigate 10,000 acres paddy . 15,000+ acres dry crops. with 600 tmc we can grow 60 lakh acres paddy or 90 lakh to 1 crore acre dry crops. for paddy they are spending more than 58,000 per acre for dry crop they are spending 35,000 per acre in the best case paddy will give 20,000 (best case) profit per acre. which comes around 12,000 crores dry crops profit varies depends on market conditions. if we just consider cost benefit ratio this project looks not viable. some social benefits we can get kaleshwaram . every person in the area get drinking water. industries get water. real estate will thrive. once land gets water greenery will increase which leads to better living conditions. once people living conditions improved they can focus on service sectors and manufacturing industries. overall this project is useful. telangana is on deccan plateau . they have no option except lift water. kaleshwaram lifeline for them. instead of constructing palamuru rangareddy lift irrigation project which draws water from srisailam , they could lift more water from kaleshwaram to serve water needs of rangareddy district. That highlighted is the key, otherwise long term lo pedda affect paduddi.
