HarshaNTR
This is the opinion of many Telugu people about the situation following Congress Core Committee decision of starting the process of separation of Telangana. I am not arguing here the merits and demerits of separation but want to point out some undemocratic ways of the Congress High Command. Following AP Congress savior YSR’s untimely death, Sonia Gandhi and the High Command set aside people’s wishes and overwhelming majority of party MLAs opinion and installed Rosayya as CM. I am not arguing the fact that if the MLAs are justified to choose an inexperienced Jagan Mohan Reddy is right or wrong. They should have the choice to elect who their leader should be. Sonia Gandhi seems to think that she knows what party and people need and want. Rosayya is supported neither by MLAs or people. Some people talk about his 40 years of experience. My question to them is why not pick some one else who may have 41 years of experience. Experience is overblown in politics. Look at Obama becoming President of the United States on his potential as a leader. The High Command failed to understand that a state needs a leader as Chief Minister not a Chief Gumastha. He would be fine as a Finance Minister but not as a Chief Minister. He defers every decision to High Command, instead of taking them on his own. The reason is that Rosayya does not enjoy support of either public or MLAs. He is supported only by the High Command and it’s the main reason why he keeps sucking up to Andhra Jyothy, Eenadu, Chandra Babu Naidu, KCR, Chiranjeevi and so called seniors in Congress Party. Also to be noted is the fact that he is enjoying this position of of power entirely due to YSR’s hard work and he does not mind being played by the same YSR’s distracters. Quite an irony. Rosayya and High Command are the main reasons besides CBN’s convulted and over smart political strategies for separate Telangana issue coming to the fore and dire situation that is prevailing now in the state. We are in lose-lose situation now. With Chidambaram’s statement on Telangana, people of one region or the other is going to be very unhappy and there will be a great loss of property and human life. He is playing with the sentiment of the Telugu people. Sonia Gandhi and High Command are thinking that they can appoint anybody as AP CM at her will and run the show. I am afraid the kind of wrong attitudes that ruined Congress party in the 70s and 80s are coming back. High Command choices for CM must have popular support. The so called leaders that can not win their own seat should not be chosen as Chief Ministers. They must be popular and show strong leadership in dealing with the situations that arise in their states and not look for leadership from 10 Janpath. Also, the people like Botsa, JC, and others that are complaining vehemently that the High Command did not take the will and wishes of the people in deciding on separation of Telangana should have also questioned High Command when Sonia Gandhi was choosing Rosayya against the popular feelings.
