Happy New Year has created history on day one recording the highest collections ever on day one beating the Dhoom 3 figure of 32 crore nett. The Mumbai figures coming in are simply phenomenal and the film is now looking an early estimate of 38-40 crore nett. The Gujarat area alone may cross 5 crore nett smashing all previous records by a distance.

The film has run riot on day in multiplexes all over recording the highest occupancies since films started going wide with over 2000 screens. The mass circuits are also huge but are unlikely to beat records by the levels that multiplexes are beating. A circuit like Rajasthan is looking near 2 crore nett which is similar to Dhoom 3 but at that time there was no entertainment tax. Delhi/UP is an all time record with likely collections to touch 7 crore nett. Mumbai is expected to be arouund 14 crore nett.

Happy New Year is looking to beat the previous record by around 15-20% which is extraordinary as the long runtime meant less screenings at multiplexes. It could have added a few crore more with a shorther runtime but it is not that important as that will made up over the week if the film keeps the momentum going.

Happy New Year managed a huge first day grossing around the 40 crore nett mark and managed a to put up new circuit records in most circuits. The ones to miss out were Rajasthan, Nizam/Andhra, Tamil Nadu/Kerala and Bihar.

Rajasthan was technically a record but as there is tax in the circuit now, the nett number was less than Dhoom 3. Circuits like CP Berar and CI set new records by a few lakhs but bigger circuits beat by bigger distances. Mumbai record was 12.10 crore nett of Singham Returns and Chennai Express is looking at a figure of 13.50 crore nett. Delhi/UP is looking around 6.75 crore nett beating the 6 crore nett of Dhoom 3. East Punjab grossed 3.51 crore nett beating the 2.92 crore nett of Dhoom 3.

Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala fell short of the figures recorded by Chennai Express while Bihar was less than Singham Returns. Saturday is another holiday in many parts of the country and it is important that the film holds well which will ensure it is a major winner with Monday to decide whether the film can emerge a blockbuster.

Happy New Year did well on day two as it grossed around 28.50 crore nett on its second day taking its two day total to 68 crore nett plus. The film held best in the Gujarat where it is holiday season and other places where there was a holiday for Bhai Dooj while other places showed a fall which happens after a big holiday.

The film is best in Mumbai due to the Gujarat factor while Delhi/UP is also strong due to strong figures in UP in day two. The under performance is in the East even though Shahrukh Khan is by a margin the biggest star in West Bengal

The Saturday numbers are less than Dhoom 3 and which collected 30.5 on Saturday while Chennai Express was in the same range as Happy new Year. The business on Sunday will be up and down as the places where it was a holiday on Saturday could drop while others where it was a normal should grow.
