Nekkanti
Reverse pumping always takes more power.

akhill
idedo theda ga vunde......power generation kante reverse turbines kosam vaade power ekkuvaaa?? Idi Eenadu mistake aa?? leka project e antha?? project e antha aithe vupayogam enti?? :roflmao: Eenadu mistake aithe okka word tho meaning mottam maarchese mistake chesinattu bro.. u cannot store current.. u can only generate it and transfer it at that moment... In the morning times Grid will be very less busy because there wouldn't be much load on it. In the night times, the load almost doubles.. But, we cannot store the current from the morning and use it in the night.. we have to generate it afresh in the night. So, we will have to release more water in the night and less water in the morning. So, what they are doing is they are releasing the water in the night... storing it in the tail pond. In the mornings, when demand is less, they will use the generated, undemanded power to push the water back into NS canal. Remember the power generation is same in morning and evening and in the morning there is no demand for power. The excess power generated in the morning will be used to route the water back to NS canal, so that we dont lose water into sea. These turbines in turn generate 50 MW, but they might be using somewhere around 100 MW.. so from the main NS canal, a 50 MW is used to push the water back. The catch here is we are saving water and will be able to generate power for a longer period of time.
