Raghveera snaps at Chiru

Minister for Agriculture N Raghuveera Reddy, here on Thursday, snapped at film actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi for claiming to be the “most honest man.”

Addressing a media conference here, Raghuveera Reddy sought an explanation either from Chiranjeevi or his Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leaders on the expenditure they had incurred to organise the party’s inaugural meeting at Tirupati. They should also explain the amount of money they had spent for the just-concluded tour of Chiranjeevi in north coastal districts.

Terming Chiranjeevi’s averment as “an honest tax-payer,” the Minister demanded that the film actor should reveal the size of remuneration he had secured in each film he acted.  “Braggart is like a one who thinks that none knows what he is doing,” he said by quoting a popular Telugu idiom “a cat with closed eyes cannot know that it is watched while it is stealing milk.”

Raghuveera Reddy alleged that the PRP should reveal the size of amount it was demanding from the “neo-rich,” who were seeking the party tickets to contest from one or the other constituency.

This is the first time that a Congress leader chose to criticise Chiranjeevi so severely. What is more surprising is that the Minister alleged that the PRP was demanding funds from those seeking party tickets. He dubbed those seeking the PRP tickets were “neo-rich.”

Raghuveera Reddy reacted sharply to chiranjeevi’s statement on Wednesday that he was the honest tax-payer. He never defaulted on paying taxes.
