The 370 run partnership between Pujara and Vijay is the third highest partnership for any wicket against Australia in Test cricket. The ones higher are: 382 by Len Hutton and Mauris Leyland in 1938 and 376 by Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman in 2001. Pujara got to his second double Test century. Virat Kohli went past 1000 Test runs. The 370 run partnership between Pujara and Vijay is also the highest ever partnership for India for the second wicket in Test cricket. They went past Gavaskar and Vengsarkar's unbeaten 344 against West Indies in 1978. The partnership of 370 between Pujara and Vijay is the 4th highest for any wicket for India in Test cricket. The ones higher are: 413 by Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy against NZ in 1956, 410 by Rahul Dravid and Sehwag against Pakistan in 2006 and 376 by Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman against Australia in 2001. Murali Vijay scored his career best score of 167. It was also the second instance where Vijay was involved in a 300+ stand. The previous one was 308 with Sachin Tendulkar against Australia at Bangalore in 2010. Incidentally, that match was Pujara's Test debut. Pujara became the second fastest Indian to 1000 Test runs. He took 18 innings for it. Vinod Kambli had taken only 14.
