Singeetam Srinivas Genius Director

Look at jeevi review

Jeevi Rating: 2.75/5 (Two and three quarter)

Genre: Family Drama

Cast: Nagarjuna, Raveena Tandon, Rajendra Prasad & Kasturi

Music: Keeravani

Story, Screenplay & Direction: Singeetam Srinivasa Rao

Theatrical Release Date: 23rd August 2001 Review

Story

Chandu (Nagarjuna) and Suri (Rajendra Prasad) are pilots. They are thick friends. Indu (Raveena Tandon) and Padma (Kasturi) are very good friends. Chandu gets married to Indu and Suri marries Padma.

Indu and Padma become pregnant. Indu meets with a car accident and she becomes ineligible to become a mother. Padma gives birth to twins, Ram and Lakshman. Indu and Chandu adapt Ram. After three years, bone-marrow cancer infects Lakshman. He needs to be operated with bone marrow transplantation. When Chandu asks the permission of Indu to use Ram's bone marrow for Lakshman's opion as they are twins, Indu refuses and flees to Delhi fearing that Chandu will force her to send Ram for operation. Later on she realizes her mistake and alights the flight to come back to his husband so that Ram can be useful for the operation of Lakshman.

The Pakistani militants hijack the flight and they divert the root of the flight. Now, Lakshman is on deathbed waiting for Ram. Ram is with his mother in a hijacked flight. You got to watch this film about how Chandu rescues the flight and put an end to the story.

Performances:

Artists:

Nagarjuna: Nagarjuna has done good job. But, due to the fact that the film took two years in making, we can see Nag in different hairstyles in this film.

Raveena Tandon: Her role in the first half is a naughty one and in the second half she turns into a serious mother. She did well her bit of histrionics.

Ranjendra Prasad: The footage given to him in this film is very small. But he enthralls the viewers with his limited role.

Technical Departments:

Screenplay & direction: Direction and screenplay of the film is inconsistent. The actual story of the film starts after four songs are over in this 5-song film. This film is not what we expect from Singeetam Srinivasa Rao who has given classics like 'Vichitra Sodarulu', 'Aditya 369'.

Music: Music by Keeravani is pretty ordinary. The background music and DTS mixing is of average quality. The dialogues of the film become inaudible, at parts (probably, it's a print fault).

Photography: The inconsistent lighting also mars photography, as the film took two years to make. You can see the lighting and texture of the scenes change from dim to bright quite often.

Production: Usha Kiron movies first film with a major hero turned out to be an insipid affair. The freedom and infrastructure given to Singeetam Srinivasa Rao was not effectively utilized. This film is also touted as special effects film. Whatever the effects we see in this film reflected the bad work done by the Mantra studio of Ramoji Film City.

Analysis: This film was started in the beginning of the year 1999 and is based on the Kandahar Flight hijack incident. A story was woven around it. The first half of the film is boring. The second half is very predictable. This film is recommended only for the Nag's fans.
