M Pradeep Kumar TNN Achampet (Mahbubnagar): Is Nagam Janardhan Reddy returning to TDP? A strong Telangana proponent, Nagam has sent feelers to Chandrababu Naidu for a re-entry into the party, highly-placed sources in TDP told TOI. Not even a month has passed since Nagam had resigned from TDP and floated his Telangana Nagaara Samithi (TNS) amid much fanfare to take up the Telangana cause. But with two of his loyalist MLAs all set to break away from him and join TRS after Dasara, sources said Nagam has decided to go back to TDP. Sources said Nagam’s decision has got much to do with the lukewarm response his Nagaara has received from the people. “Nagam is sending feelers to the TDP chief through a senior leader from Warangal district. He is desperate to return to TDP,” sources said. Nagam wants Naidu to issue a statement in support of separate T or at least form a separate T committee headed by him before joining the party. “If Naidu issues a statement or announces the committee, Nagam would not wait any longer to make his comeback,” a senior TDP leader told TOI. Nagam resigned from TDP in protest against Naidu’s ‘two-eyes’ policy on Telangana and launched his TNS on September 9 in Achampet in Mahbubnagar district. His loyalist MLAs --Jogu Ramanna, S Venugopala Chary and Harishwar Reddy – also followed him and joined TNS. “Nagam thought some more TDP MLAs would quit and join his party, but TNS hardly evoked any response even in his home district of Mahbubnagar,” a close aide of Ramanna said. Frustrated by the poor cadre response to TNS, Ramanna and Chary had sent feelers to TRS camp. “Their joining TRS after Dasara is only a formality,” sources said. Parigi MLA Harishwar, however, is set to sail along with Nagam and rejoin TDP. Analysts said Naidu is veering round to take back Nagam, who is a force to reckon with in T, after two MLAs – Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Gampa Goverdhan – deserted him and joined TRS. A section of T TDP MLAs leading the movement is opposing it. “He went out of the party after he was removed as head of T TDP Forum. He'll lose whatever respect some of us had. when he left, I respected whatever decision he made and wished him good luck. I don't think he will be received back to TDP in good faith.
