jaytheking Posted June 24, 2010 Share Posted June 24, 2010 The Indian Rupee will get a new symbol, like how dollar has ‘$’, Euro has ‘€’ or the pound has ‘£’. An invitation was released by the department of Economic Affairs – Currency and Coinage Division to general public to come up with a design for Indian Rupee Symbol. While many designs were received five designs were finalized. Now the Government of India is expected to decide on one symbol and promote it as the symbol. Presently ‘Rs.’ or ‘Re’ is used by both Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and India is looking forward to find a different symbol for Indian Rupee’s new identity.
