Frankenstein Posted April 25, 2015 Share Posted April 25, 2015 The Bulandshahr District Magistrate B Chandrakala is suddenly in limelight after a video which features her lashing out at municipal officer and contractors for their negligence from duty. The video of the same went viral on social media. In this video, DM B Chandrakala is seen scolding civic officers and contractors for not completing their work. She also shouts on engineers and contractors for using poor quality tiles in road construction. Chandrakala further demands immediate inquiry into the matter. The local people have praised the DM’s strict action against low quality works. People are appreciating Chandrakala’s stand through social media. In India where corruption has entered into the veins of public servants, officers like Chandrakala are only a ray hope for common man that India will change. Chandrakala’s act is commendable and others should learn from her. After the incident, Chandrakala may face another transfer as according to NDTV, she has been transferred recently from Mathura, reportedly without any proper explanation. With sheer hard work and perseverance, Chandrakala, a tribeswoman from Garjanapally village in Yellareddypet mandal, who had even failed to get admission in mathematics, science or commerce and had to be content pursuing an academic career with history, economics and geography as her main subjects, ultimately managed to script a story of success. With whole‐hearted support from her family, Chandrakala secured the 409th rank in the Civil Services exams whose results were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) last week. In fact, her main subjects helped her secure a good rank in the UPSC exams. Chandrakala, mother of a nine‐ year old girl, has earned a name not only for herself but also for her native town Ramagundam and her in‐ laws� village Garjanapally. Her husband A Ramulu works as deputy executive engineer in Sriramsagar Project (SRSP) at Lower Manair Dam (LMD). The third child of Lakshmi and Kishan (a retired foreman with Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) in Ramagundam), Chandrakala studied up to the 12th standard at Kendriya Vidyalaya (CBSE syllabus) in the town. She joined Koti Women�s College in Hyderabad to study BA but was married off in the second year. Her high aspirations prevented her from giving up studies and she completed MA (Economics) through distance education and prepared for Group I with the help of her husband who took care of their child. Not surprisingly, Chandrakala emerged the topper among SC/ST candidates in Group I examinations conducted by the AP Public Service Commission and became Deputy Registrar with Cooperative Societies. This boosted her morale and she decided to appear for the Civil Services. Though she failed to succeed in her first three attempts, she qualified for the main exams in her fourth attempt and secured the 409th rank. �My Arts background indeed helped me in my success,� she said. Her optionals in Civils were geography and public administration. She preferred the IAS though she was offered the IPS. �I owe my success to my daughter Keerti Meena, who instilled confidence in me whenever I was low,� she said and also acknowledged her family�s unstinted support.
