Gotta tell it frankly - Argentina weren't the best team by any stretch in theses WC finals nor were they a great team but they fought it out in every match, gotta give it to them, mentally were very strong....

Sabella managed the team beautifully..

Coming to the golden ball topic.. Frankly messi didn't deserve it.. He wasn't even in the top 5 players in this tournament, that is pertaining to olie performances in these WC final games.. Robben, lahm, neuer, mascherano were much much more effective... Doesn't mean u have to score these many goals to be the most effective.. Robben looked the most dangerous player on the pitch motham WC la, no team could completely stop him in any games, messi was closely marked and teams could cut him off but not Robben.. He was the rightful winner..

coming to the Argentina team, mascherano was undoubtedly the best player for them consistently, messi comes clear second there. Argentina always had a extremely potent attacking unit before the tournament started but their defence was the one in question and how well did they defend, mascherano specially rose to the occasion brilliantly.. Messi won the MOM awards but in many of those matches Argentina kept their clean sheets due to the defensive line and specially mascherano.. Messi failed in the knockout stages and couldn't raise him game but mascherano saved them from clear defeat especially against the Dutch,Robben was surely scoring the winner when he made the tackle of the tourney to stop him.. He was brilliant in all games including the semis and finals...

Robben was and is still every non biased football lover's choice and almost everyone including messi fans were super shocked with this decision cause of they know deep inside that messi wasn't anywhere near his best in this WC, even messi looked surprised that he got it, online forums are buzzing with this so called Populist decision, but anyway messi is a good guy, one of the best of this generation so parle.. Idi purely unbiased ga cheppa, i have great respect for Messi bit messi fans know it deep down so don't try to unnecessarily argue and decrease messi's stature more, it took a public beating yesterday only after he got the award

Brendan wants six more

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in another SIX new signings this summer, writes Alan Nixon in the Sunday People.

The Reds boss is ready to spend every penny of the £75million banked from Luis Suarez's departure to Barcelona.

Rodgers is expected to go back to Southampton for Jay Rodriguez and Dejan Lovren, while left-back's Alberto Moreno and Ben Davies remain on the radar.

A deal for Lazar Markovic is close to completion and Swansea's £6million valuation of stopper Michel Vorm hasn't put off Liverpool.

Wisdom heading for Baggies

Liverpool right-back Andre Wisdom is set to join West Brom on a season-long loan, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

The England Under-21 skipper spent last season on loan at Derby and was widely expected to return again this summer.

However, after failing to land Alan Hutton from Aston Villa, Baggies boss Alan Irvine has turned to Wisdom.

The defender broke into the Anfield first team a couple of seasons ago but has now slipped down the pecking order.

Loan deal: Wisdom impressed at Derby last season

Sunday's Liverpool stories from other newspapers and websites Bony closing in

According to the Express, Liverpool are set to seal a £20million deal for Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.

Boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to fill the void left by Luis Suarez and believes the Ivorian is the man to do that.

Bony enjoyed a fine first season in the Premier League and is said to be keen on a switch to Merseyside.

A back-up option to the 25-year-old is Frenchman Loic Remy, although Arsenal lead the chase.

Spend spend spend

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre says the Reds will continue to spend this summer.

Deals for Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic are expected to be completed in the coming days and Ayre insists more will follow.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "It’s all about building and progress. We'll aim to continue that throughout the summer.

"We've obviously sold Luis but we've had a busy few weeks with players arriving as well."

Suso staying put

Spanish youngster Suso is determined to fight for his spot at Anfield next season.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Almeria and had been linked with a similar switch away again for the new campaign.

But he told LFCTV that he saw his future on Merseyside and wants to make himself a regular fixture in Brendan Rodgers' first-team.

Liverpool supremo Ian Ayre will fly to Spain in a bid to clinch the £18million capture of Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno.

Ayre will step up his bid to spend the Luis Suarez cash and headed for talks with the La Liga outfit and Moreno's agents.

The Kop have been trying to get a lower figure for Moreno - and hope they are the only remaining big-club bidder for him.

Moreno is looking to move and Sevilla have had financial problems, so the Anfield club have a fighting chance.

Liverpool have also teed up a move for Swansea's Ben Davies and may take both defenders in a whirlwind window.
