He isn't the reason for the person's death. No one knows why he died Tyler never even spoke to his mother at all. He was already mentally unstable/depressed. A small apology from the kid would be appropriate as you said.. but I saw the kid's good character when he refused the plea bargain (no jail time/trial).. and went to court instead.. since plea bargain would mean admitting to hatred towards gays.
