Jagannath Posted October 7, 2011 Share Posted October 7, 2011 The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Leading industry body ASSOCHAM said today the renewed struggle for a separate statehood by pro-Telangana groups in the past two weeks has already resulted in a tangible loss of goods and services in excess of Rs 10,000 crore. The opportunity losses could be even higher, said The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). “Sectors like IT/BPO, KPO, manufacturing, power and hospitality are the worst hit which may shake the overall business environment,” said secretary general D.S. Rawat. The ‘sakala janula samme’ (general strike across the society) has lead to frequent power outages and the public transport system has come to a virtual standstill. This has pushed up industrial costs by over 15 per cent and dented Andhra Pradesh’s image as a lucrative investment destination. ASSOCHAM appealed to the Centre and state government to take urgent actions to ensure there are no disruptions in terms of industrial production and the businesses are least impacted. No one asks how will he achieve it. I don't have any faith on these so called pro telangana leaders have that ability to get (even there is a separate state is formed) Hyderabad glory back. KKR is trying the same as YSR doing by vowing attractive and practically impossible things to the people and when the time comes to realize them, he will show a helpless face.
