A former USAID official, Roderick Watson, along with three company executives, have pleaded guilty to a conspiracy involving bribery and fraud in contracts worth over $550 million. The scheme included lavish bribes and financial benefits for the involved parties. This case underscores significant issues of corruption within the system, prompting calls for further investigation into USAID's contracting processes.

Funny thing is I have been reading the thread title as " U SAID" all these days which never made sense to me ... looked and sounded very awkward.

Now, I just had a beer n going into 2nd, now I read it as "US AID" and it all makes perfect sense now

The U.S. Department of Justice, in coordination with multiple federal and state agencies, announced the largest healthcare fraud takedown in the country's history. Charges were filed against 324 defendants, including nearly 100 medical professionals, for schemes that involved $14.6 billion in false claims. The operation spanned 50 federal districts and 12 states, targeting fraudulent activities ranging from opioid trafficking to telemedicine fraud and identity theft.

The U.S. Senate has just officially passed Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" today. At the last minute, the controversial excise tax on solar and wind energy projects was removed.

Some of the bill impacts EVs/renewables:
• The $7,500 EV credit for new car sales, $4,000 credit for used EVs and $7,500 commercial EV credit would end on September 30, 2025
• Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit: Ends June 30, 2026
• Home Energy Efficiency Improvements: Ends for improvements placed in service after December 31, 2025
• Residential Clean Energy Credit: Ends for expenditures made after December 31, 2025
• New Energy Efficient Home Credit: Ends June 30, 2026

The new language would also keep investment and production tax credits for wind and solar through June 2026 and base eligibility on when projects start construction. That’s more generous than what conservatives wanted initially.

The bill will now go to the House. If it passes there (and no further changes are made), it will go to Trump's desk for him to sign into law.
