Covid put a dent in tourism-based revenue which is 10% of their economy.

Their finance department must be fools for assuming to run the country on tourism revenue :)

China nunchi full ga appulu teesukundhi bro SL.. So max China valu kalipesukuntaru emo.. Just random thought..

China succeeded in first half of their mission. They already took Hambantota sea port on lease for next 99 years as partial payment for the debt SL owes to China. Next step is conditional bail out. SL did not like the conditions. Hence they went to IMF now.

But IMF wants to control their internal finance ministry if they agree for bail out. Primarily, for debt restructuring.

India agreed to give a loan which in my opinion is just waste of money at this point since it's not getting any leverage in return. At least, China got a sea port which will be important for its maritime trading routes.

Let's see how MoSha's foreign policy is. He made enemies with most if in fact all of neighboring countries....can they at least keep Sri Lanka on good terms ?

Sri Lanka is blackmailing india by showing china. It is perceiving india goodwill as weakness. It is not good to encourage bad behaviour.

Sri Lanka approached india to build Port and airport. India didn't agree to Sri Lanka proposal due to lack of economic feasibility. Sri Lanka turned to China .  airport without flights and seaport without ships is useless. Most of Chinese projects in other countries became white elephants. China behaving like mortgage lender.
