Really disgusting. I was shocked because I've seen his tweet just a while ago. It is being portrayed as someone threatening him to stop production but article says that they're calling for more supply of vaccine doses

Yes, they are calling him for more production and prioritize their batches for production.
Ultimately, resorting to threats. That’s why he left the country.

In an ideal situation the gov should have been proactive and struck a deal with him for vaccine procurement.

gujjus are hard bargainers. modi delayed vaccine orders and banned vaccine exports to get vaccine at less price. modi might saved 100 rupees per dose but it costs lives and economy. countries like US, UK, EUROPE gave orders and paid advance to ramp up vaccine production capacity but india paid advance only after seeing corona cases surge.

serum will increase india production capacity upto 100 million doses  per month. serum doesn't want to face problems for its exports. it will setup new vaccine manufacturing plants outside india to fulfil commitments for other countries.
