: The Andhra Pradesh State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has allotted 86.32 acres of land for the proposed engineering cluster at Veerapanenigudem village of Gannavaram mandal in Krishna district.

M/s. Amaravathi Industrial Association (AIA) consisting of of various micro, small and medium industries, entered into MoU with the Andhra Pradesh State government for setting up the engineering cluster in Krishna district during the Partnership Summit-2016 held in Visakhapatnam.

The AIA has pledged to invest at least Rs.200-crore investment, apart from promising to generate nearly 2000 jobs through the cluster, for which the State government has promised to encourage with various facilities and incentives.

Plots sanctioned

“We have already sanctioned the plots to set up the respective units for the 75 proponents based on the recommendations by the Chief Minister’s Office. We are working on the Detailed Project Reports submitted by the 75 proponents to ascertain the type of units to be set up”, APIIC Krishna-Guntur-West Godavari Regional Manager T. Visweswara Rao told The Hindu .

According to recent Go.No. 104 issued by the Department of Industries and Commerce, a total of 46. 50 acres of land has been spared for the first 75 proponents at the rate of Rs. 8 lakh per acre, including development cost.

The project proponent should ground the industry within a year from the date of layout approval.

In February, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu promised that the engineering cluster would be provided with round the clock electricity, water supply and better road connectivity.

The State government would also appoint a special officer to monitor the facilities and technical support to the industries.

APIIC seeks over 1,700 acres to set up industrial parks in Vij

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has sought about 1,700 acres of land from the state government to set up three industrial parks around Vijayawada.

The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation's request comes in the wake of many owners of small and medium units in Balanagar and Jeedimetla industrial estates in Hyderabad expressing readiness to set up their second units in the AP capital region. "Many small and medium entrepreneurs, who run workshops in Hyderabad, have approached us. They gave representation saying that they plan to set up their second units in the AP capital region. We have decided to allot them land in industrial parks to be set up around Vijayawada," APIIC chairman P Krishnaiah told TOI.

Most of the industries are related to electrical, electronics and chemical. It is expected that nearly 300 units are likely to open their shop in the capital region.

The proposed industrial parks will come up at Malavalli near Vijayawada airport (1,400 acres), Veerapanenigudem (180 acres) and Peddaram near Jaggaiahpet (100 acres). These land parcels are largely owned by the state government. However, a few acres are under private occupation. The APIIC will expedite the work once it gets the land parcels.

It is expected to generate Rs 3,000 crore investment. Ashok Leyland, which signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AP government during the partnership meet in Vizag, is also planning to establish a manufacturing unit in the area.

Vijayawada is a known automobile hub with nearly Rs 1,000 crore turnover. However, it does not have a manufacturing unit. "The proposed units will create more opportunities for people in and around Vijayawada," officials said.

Amaravati Industries Association has professionals who studied in Andhra Pradesh, and they now want to show their goodwill

In what is billed as the single biggest investment commitment in an APIIC industrial estate in the capital region of Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation, Amaravati Industries Association (AIA) is moving to set up a cluster comprising Small and Medium Scale Industries at Veerapanenigudem near Gannavaram.

AIA is floated by a group of entrepreneurs hailing from Andhra Pradesh (A.P) but settled in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The Association has lined up investments ranging from Rs.1 crore to Rs.10 crore, totalling nearly Rs. 200 crore in 71 plots spanning 85 acres being developed by the A.P Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC).

AIA President A. Venkateswara Rao says the companies have expertise in manufacturing diverse products: from aerospace components to plastics and gas turbines to pellet machines.

“Most of us have 20 to 30 years experience in various businesses. Having had our education and growth in A.P., we wanted to give back for development of the State. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu facilitated our foray into this region. A.P. Non-Resident Telugu Society (AP-NRT) CEO Ravi Kumar Vemuru helped us a lot in coming here,” Mr. Rao said at a media interaction.

AP-NRT Director Murali Nannapaneni said the A.P capital region has tremendous potential for micro, small and medium enterprises.

Land remains scarce

“The AP-NRT is making efforts to attract more entrepreneurs to set up their units in the new State and is playing a facilitating role”, he said. Since land is scarce, the upcoming cluster at Veerapanenigudem had to be restricted to 85 acres and areas where similar ventures could be taken up are being identified, he said.

The APIIC is set to start widening the approach road from the NH-16 and create other infrastructure at a cost of Rs. 8.5 crore to enable the companies to start their operations.

Priority is being given to this cluster, as it is transforming Krishna district, which ranks low in the small list of investment destinations in A.P, into an industrial hub. Others like Visakhapatnam, Chittoor and Nellore districts are dominant.
