Gannavaram airport is getting ready for a huge expansion and in turn a phenomenal growth in both aircraft and passenger movements. The state government has finally cleared the allotment of 698 acres to the airport. District administration is going to handover the land to airport authorities very soon. If everything goes according to the plan, the new Interium Terminal would come into existence by November. By this year end, airport authorities are also planning to run flights to other countries from Gannavaram

The runway will be expanded by 739 meters from 2,286 meters and the aircrafts like Airbus 321 can also be handled by this. 10 parking bays were under construction in addition to the existing six. Five of them would be completed by this month-end and the remaining by August 31. When all these are ready, at a time 16 flights can be parked in the airport

A new technical block comprising an air traffic control tower with eight to 10 floors and advanced central navigation system among other paraphernalia would be constructed soon.

The parking bay of the passenger vehicles is also going to increase, where 300 cars can be parked.

విజయవాడ ఎయిర్‌పోర్టు ప్రస్తుత పరిస్థితి

బెజవాడ ఎయిర్‌పోర్టు ప్రస్తుతం ఇంకా విస్తరణకు నోచుకోలేదు. విస్తరణకు అవసరమైన 600 ఎకరాల భూములను ఈ నెలాఖరుకు అప్పగిస్తామని జిల్లా యంత్రాంగం నుంచి హామీ వచ్చింది. భూ సేకరణ జరిగితేనే విమానాశ్రయ రన్‌వేను 7వేల అడుగుల మేర విస్తరించటం సాధ్యం అవుతుంది. రన్‌వేను 7వేల అడుగుల మేర విస్తరించగలిగితే భారీ విమానాలు కూడా ల్యాండింగ్‌, టేకాఫ్‌కి అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. ప్రస్తుతం పాత టెర్మినల్‌ బిల్డింగ్‌ను 500 మంది ప్రయాణీకులకు అనువుగా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ఇంటీరియమ్‌ టెర్మినల్‌ బిల్డింగ్‌ పనులు పూర్తి కావస్తున్నాయి. ఇంటీరియమ్‌ టెర్మినల్‌ బిల్డింగ్‌ను 1200 మంది ప్రయాణీకులకు అనువుగా తీర్చిదిద్దుతున్నారు. కస్టమ్స్‌, ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్స్‌ హోదావస్తే.. ఎంచక్కా విదేశాలకు విమానాలు వెళ్ళే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్‌పైనా, కస్టమ్స్‌ హోదాలపైన కేంద్రం నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవాల్సి ఉంది. కనీసం కస్టమ్స్‌ హోదా అయినా ముందు వస్తే ఆసియా దేశాలకు విమానాలు నడవటానికి అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. ఆసియాకు చెందిన దేశాలే పెట్టుబడుల జాబితాలో ఉండటం వల్ల కనీసం కస్టమ్స్‌ హోదా అయినా సాధ్యమైనంత త్వరగా సాధించాల్సి ఉంది. ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్‌ హోదాకోసం రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం సత్వరం కృషి చేయాల్సి ఉంది.

The Gannavaram (Vijayawada) airport is poised for a phenomenal growth in both aircraft and passenger movements by the end of this financial year (2016-17) mainly drawing its strength from the construction of capital city Amaravati. Only a dawn-to-dusk airport now, it is making rapid strides to become 24×7 facility, for which steps are being taken with an eye on initially opening the skies to southeast Asian countries, said airport Director G. Madhusudana Rao.

Addressing an interactive session organised by the Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) here on Monday, Mr. Madhusudana Rao said the immediate goal was to get it declared as a Customs airport which would facilitate the establishment of air connectivity with important Asian cities. For it to happen, the approval of the Ministry of Finance was required.

The number of aircraft movements had gone up to from 1,621 in April-June 2015 to 2,888 in the corresponding quarter of 2016. The passenger movements between April and June 2015 were 92,103 and it touched 1,43,758 in the current year.

The number of passengers who travelled through the airport in 2015-16 was 39,6579 and it was set to cross six lakh by the end of FY 2016-17, he said. Mr. Rao said construction of the new Integrated Terminal Building (ITB) was likely to begin in 2019 and be completed by 2021. It was estimated to cost Rs. 535 crore. Realising the potential of the airport, Jet Airways and Indigo have evinced interest in offering their services here. Indigo has plans to make it a night parking hub and expand its operations in the due course. Brand new facilities costing nearly Rs. 150 crore are being provided in the existing terminal building.

Mr. Rao said 10 parking bays were under construction in addition to the existing six. Five of them would be completed by this month-end and the remaining by August 31. నవ్యాంధ్ర రాజధానిగా అమరావతిని ప్రకటించాక విజయవాడకు ఎన్‌ఆర్‌ఐల తాకిడి పెరిగిందా ? గన్నవరం విమానాశ్రయం నుంచి మరిన్ని సర్వీసులు నడపాలంటూ ఒత్తిడి పెరిగిందా ? తాజా పరిస్థితులను గమనిస్తే ఈ ప్రశ్నలకు అవుననే సమాధానం వస్తోంది. గుంటూరు, విజయవాడ పరిసరాలకు చెందిన చాలామంది విదేశాల్లో ఎన్‌ఆర్‌ఐలుగా స్థిరపడ్డారు. దాదాపు 60శాతం కుటుంబాల్లో ఒకరి నుంచి ఇద్దరు వరకూ విదేశాల్లో స్థిరపడిన వారే. దీంతో ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు విజయవాడ విమానాశ్రయాన్ని అంతర్జాతీయ విమానాశ్రయాలకు ధీటుగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలని దృఢ సంకల్పంతో ఉన్నారు. అందులో భాగంగా మొదటిగా కొత్త టెర్మినల్‌ను నిర్మించేందుకు బాబు కేంద్రం నుంచి అనుమతి తీసుకున్నారు. ఈ టెర్మినల్ నిర్మించేందుకు 534 కోట్ల రూపాయల ఖర్చు అవుతుందని అధికారులు అంచనా వేశారు. ఇదిలా ఉంటే కృష్ణా పుష్కరాలు సమీపిస్తున్న నేపథ్యంలో విజయవాడకు వచ్చే ఎన్‌‌ఆర్‌ఐల తాకిడి పెరుగుతుందని అధికారులు భావిస్తున్నారు. విమానాశ్రయంలో సదుపాయాలను మెరుగుపరిచేందుకు డీజీసీఏ ఇప్పటికే శ్రీకారం చుట్టింది. ఇందులో భాగంగా 10 పార్కింగ్ ప్రాంతాలను ఇప్పటికే ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఎయిర్‌పోర్ట్‌లో అదనంగా 37 సీసీ కెమెరాలు ఏర్పాటు చేయనున్నారు

విమానాశ్రయానికి రాకపోకలు సాగించే వారికి టెర్మినల్‌ బిల్డింగ్‌లోని అరైవల్‌, డిపార్చర్‌ బ్లాక్‌లలో సరికొత్త అనుభూతిని తీసుకు వచ్చేందుకు పూల తోరణాలు, లాంజ్‌లలోని ఫ్లోర్‌పై పూలతో తోరణాలు ఏర్పాటు చేస్తారు. ప్రతి రోజూ వీటిని మార్చుతారు. పుష్కరాల పన్నెండు రోజులపాటు ఫ్లోరల్‌ డెకరేషన్‌ చేయాలని నిర్ణయించారు. పన్నెండు రోజుల పాటు ఒక్కో ప్రత్యేకమైన అలంకరణ చేపడతారు.

కృష్ణా పుష్కరాలను దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని పన్నెండు రోజుల పాటు జ్యోతిని ప్రజ్వరిల్లింపజేయాలని అధికారులు నిర్ణయించారు. ఈ జ్యోతిని పుష్కర జ్యోతిగా వెలిగిస్తారు. యాత్రికులను ఆకట్టుకోవటానికి వీలుగా దీపాలంకరణ చేస్తారు.

 

నృత్య రూపకాలు.. స్కిట్స్‌

విమానాశ్రయంలోని లాంజ్‌లలో చిన్న వేదికను ఏర్పాటు చేసి పన్నెండు రోజుల పాటు సాంస్కృతిక కార్యక్రమాలను నిర్వహించటానికి అధికారులు ప్రణాళికలు రూపొందించారు. శాస్ర్తీయ నృత్యాలు, జానపదాలు, పౌరాణిక నేపథ్యం, పుష్కర చరిత్రను ఆవిష్కరించే నృత్య కార్యక్రమాలను ప్రదర్శిస్తారు. విద్యార్థులు ట్రెడిషనల్‌ స్కిట్స్‌ను ప్రదర్శించాలనుకుంటే అనుమతిస్తారు. విమాన యాత్రికులను విద్యార్థినులు సంప్రదాయ చీర, కాటుక, బొట్టులతోనూ విద్యార్థులు పంచె, పైజమా, దోవతిలతో పన్నీరు, పూలు చల్లి ఆహ్వానం పలుకుతారు.

దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా వివిధ రంగాల ప్రముఖులు ప్రత్యేక విమానాల ద్వారా వస్తారు. పారిశ్రామిక వేత్తలు, పీఠాధిపతులు, సెలబ్రిటీలు, వివిధ రాష్ర్టాల నుంచి వచ్చే ప్రజా ప్రతినిధులు చార్టర్డ్‌ ఫ్లైట్స్‌ ద్వారా వస్తుంటారు. వీరికి ప్రస్తుతం నిర్మిస్తున్న పది పార్కింగ్‌ బేలలో జూలై 31 నాటికి సగం మేర అంటే ఐదు పార్కింగ్‌ బేలను సిద్ధం చేయటానికి ప్రణాళికలు రూపొందించుకుంది. దాదాపుగా నిర్మాణాలు కూడా పూర్తయ్యాయి.

విమానాశ్రయానికి రాకపోకలు సాగించడానికి కార్ల మీద ఎక్కువుగా వస్తుంటారు. పుష్కరాల పన్నెండు రోజులు అధిక రద్దీ ఉంటుంది. దీనిని దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని ప్రతి ఫ్లెట్‌ సమయానికి 300 మంది వరకు తమ కార్లను పార్కింగ్‌ చేసుకునేలా పార్కింగ్‌ ఏరియాను అభివృద్ధి చేశారు.
