Chennai is having its second summer with temperature touching 38 degrees Celsius on a Saturday afternoon in July.

But unmindful of the heat and dust on the beach front in the suburban Neelankarai in Chennai the unit led by producer Vakada Apparao of Sri Lalitha Kalanjali Productions is shooting for its untitled film directed by P. Vasu.

The place is designed to look like a labour colony with over 200 huts being erected for the shoot. A young man clad in blue jeans and a red and white checked shirt on a red vest, looking every inch a rustic, is running at a fast pace and is being chased by some men in uniform. At a distance, two cranes with thick wires connecting them were placed so that the stunt men can cling to them in the fight sequence. Cinematographer Sekhar V. Joseph sat on another crane, mounted with the camera, to capture the wild goose chase.

Unable to catch the agile youngster, his opponents fell one by one like a pack of cards. The young man smiles and stretches his hands and says his dialogue. One closer look and you realise that the youngster is none other than the film’s hero Balakrishna, who’s sporting a wig that suits him well. And there’s not an iota of strain visible on his smiling face even after such a long run in the sand and amidst casuarinas. A satisfied Vasu orders ‘cut.’ Balakrishna retires into an adjoining room for a brief respite, where the film’s main villain Pradeep Rawat, is waiting for his turn to face the camera.

[b]"The police suspect the hero in an incident. When they came to take him into custody, he gives them a run for their jobs. Normally, it is the police who say, "You are under arrest." But when they all fall, our hero goes to them and jocularly tells, "I am under arrest." It is one of the many light-hearted scenes in the movie,"[/b] says Vasu.

He adds that with a new script and a different screenplay, he is presenting Balakrishna ‘in a role that never seen before.’ [b]"We aim to woo the family audience. His role may remind you of his earlier hits like Muddula Maamayya or Peddannayya. This movie has Balakrishna play a classical musician and a music teacher, but his role has many shades that pep up the tempo."[/b]

The heroines Sneha and Meera Jasmine are not required for the day’s shoot, as is another actress in the film, Jayaprada.

[b]"We have two heroines. But it is not a triangle love story. It is a love story sans a single romantic scene. Find it little bit intriguing?"[/b] questions Vasu, laughs and answers, [b]"Such is the novel screenplay. You find riddles in the first half and the answers in the second half. Sneha is a music and dance researcher, who is on a mission to discover untapped talents among the slum dwellers.Meera Jasmine has an equally good role. It’s my fortune that Jayaprada has agreed to do the film after going through the script."[/b]

Ace Kannada music director Gurukiran makes his debut in Telugu. [b]"For such a fresh script, we needed a new music director, but, at the same time, he must be talented. Gurukiran had composed music for my Kannada film, Apthamithra."[/b]

After talking to his hero, Vasu is seen busy discussing the next scene with his cameraman Sekhar and fights master Dinesh Babu. And the show goes on.
