YamaDonga screening in Cedar Rapids, IOWA - AFTERMATH

Living in a small town like Cedar Rapids, Iowa in the mid-west which is basically a farming community there is hardly much to do for anybody here leave alone the desi crowd and a diversified on at that. I took it upon me to bring in some entertainment while getting entertained and occasionally I started screening telugu movies. Honestly speaking last year was kind of a sabbatical as with the exception of Sree Ramadasu, Bommarillu and Godavari the other few movies that were screened left me a stage to rethink the screening of the movies and I took a break for around 5 months.

I started this year with SDZ and the less I speak about it the better I guess (Yes, I do have a soft corner for Chiranjeevi and I still say that). The Distributors of " YAMADONGA" were kind enough to understand my earlier loss and gladly obliged to accommodate Yamadonga for our town in the very first week. It was a weekday and in fact we were under flood watch with occasional rain all through out the day. But thanks to the entertainment loving telugu public, by 6:30 the theatre was 60% full and by the time we started rolling it was almost 80% full. Inspite of the weather and being a weekday, We were pretty amazed at the turnout and by the end of the movie that was totally justified. It was a remarkable entertainer with equal doses of masala, topped with solid performances from the whole cast. The songs, the whole Yama episodes, the Jr. and Sr. NTR’s combo scenes made people shout and clap and it was more like watching a movie in Andhra not in the middle of the United States. And hey, by the end of the day we were able to recover most of our losses from our previous venture….

So our sincere thanks to Raman Sanchula and Prawasi Movies for providing us this opportunity. More importantly thank you for infusing life into our will to continue screening movies in small towns with this blockbuster. And finally, Thanks to all the folks who came to the theatres and made this movie a success!
