A first-generation politician and member of Telugu Desam Party since the day of inception on March 29, 1982. Childhood and Early Life Born on January 1, 1955, Shri Mohammed Ahmed Shariff came from a humble upbringing in the town of Narsapur in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. His father ran a footwear business and mother a homemaker had an elder brother who passed away. He graduated in commerce from Sri YN College in Narsapur and was actively involved in student politics. He contested for the position of College Secretary at YN College sometime between 1974 – 75. Later he moved to strengthen his education and pursued MCom LLB from the Bhopal College. Shri Mohammed Ahmed Shariff, popularly known as M.A. Shariff got married at the age of 27 and has two daughters and two sons. Entry in Politics The news came in from all sides that Shri N.T. Rama Rao, the charismatic South Indian movie star (who later became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh) was forming a new political party in the state. Shri M.A. Shariff was filled with excitement and zeal when he learned about this. March 29, 1982 – the most important date in the history of Andhra Pradesh and for Shri M.A. Shariff. Shri N.T. Rama Rao announced the formation of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Hyderabad and Shri. M.A. Shariff formed TDP in Narsapur (W.G. Dist.) with 11 members on the same day. Was elected as the Town Party President for Narsapur (W.G. Dist.), worked passionately for three years. His dedication did not go unnoticed, Shri N.T. Rama Rao offered an opportunity to work with the state party at Hyderabad. Between 1985 and 87 worked as West Godavari District Joint Secretary. Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu was serving as the party General Secretary at the time, entrusted Shri M.A. Shariff with special work and sent as an observer to Vizianagaram, Warangal, Karimnagar, and Adilabad districts. In 1987, at the age of 31 nominated as Minority finance corp. chairman. Was also entrusted with Karimnagar, Adilabad, Anantapur districts as an Observer. From 1990 to 1997 served as District Party President and mainly concentrated on Narsapur Assembly and Parliamentary elections, TDP won the elections. Between 1997 and 2000, nominated for the position of Chairman of Minority Finance Corporation. During the same period served as the State Party Program Committee Member. This committee is responsible for party programs planning, implementation at ground level and providing key insights to Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu In the year 2000, Shri M.A. Shariff was appointed Chairman of State Party Programs Committee. In 2002, was nominated for the position of Chairman State Housing Corporation serving until 2004 and during the same period became the State Party General Secretary and served until 2009. Being part of the close circle of the Party President, played important role in Electioneering including candidate selection and other important party affairs during 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections. During 2009 -11 served as one of the State Party General Secretary, in-charge of Nizamabad, Adilabad and Karimnagar districts. 2011 – 14, as State Party General Secretary took responsibility to win Narsapur local body and assembly elections. Won the elections as a result of hard work and right guidance from party leadership. In 2004, served as a Member of Election Committee. Appointed as Member of Legislative Council (MLC) in 2015, also served as the Chairman of TDP National Disciplinary Committee. In 2017, appointed as Government Whip, AP Legislative Council and also serving as TDP National party General Secretary. Anything can happen in 4 Months Time. Courts will definitely intervene. Government can only send a resolution to Parliament, they can’t terminate the legislative council.
