Assume 50 OC's get jobs out of the 100 available posts. This new reservation makes sense if more than 40 out of the those 50 OC's have an annual income greater than 8 lakhs. In other words, less than 10 OC's should be from below 8L bracket for this to make any sense. This is far from reality - I believe at least 20 OC's (This number would actually be higher than that.) would be from less than 8L bracket. So, 20 EWS OC's must already be getting jobs. Now, 10 of these 20 would be shown under reservation. Remaining 10 under normal quota. This is just a gimmick. This isn't going to make any difference. I am just explaining how this 10% reservation itself is a gimmick. Assuming the remaining 50% posts are totally occupied by un-reserved castes, it still makes no difference to the EWS among those castes - This is simply because of the 8L limit. For the last few years, engineering colleges are not able to fill the seats that are available. Adding more seats just to have more EWS students get the benefit of reservation is utter stupidity.
