That means Trump agrees his failure to implement one of his top 3 election promises and a huge set back. if Trump impose National Emergency? will Trump resign? What could happen here? However his party may waver from its position and compromise with Democrats if this shutdown prolong for some more days. If that happens, it would affect the chances of Trump being re-elected to a great extent. What I have observed is, people speak against him in public (for fear of being labeled racist/un compassionate ...etc), but privately lot of white male support him. But we never know how the core Americans think. We either consume the Demo version or Rep version of online news and form opinions. Most of the American citizens we interact with are settled down in cities and work with non Americans in day to day life. So their way of looking at things will be completely different o what folks living far away from cities think. On top of it, you have a good no of Mexican population who will decide the fate in some popular states... different things.... but really interested in watching how this guy proceeds at this point of time.
