Train 18 to change way Indians commute

Train 18, India’s first engineless semi-high speed train set that was launched by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai earlier this week will not only transform travel experience of railway commuters but also the coach manufacturing industry in the country.
The gleaming, blue-nosed train that has a cone-shaped frontage similar to that of a bullet train is expected to start chugging on the tracks from February next year year.

“Trials of Train 18 have already commenced. It will undergo extensive testing by the Research, Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) over the next few months on the Moradabad-Bareilly and Delhi-Agra sections. By January, the trials will get over. By the time, it will be certified, another rake will be ready and by February, we will have two rakes ready for operations,”Sudhanshu Mani, general manager of ICF, who spearheaded its manufacturing told TOI on Friday

Mani, who was at the National Academy of Indian Railways, said that the first rake is expected to run on Delhi-Bhopal route,”

“In 2019-20, we will make four more rakes and more services will be introduced. We are geared up to make it in large numbers from 2021 onwards and we hoping it to be a great success story,” he said.

ICF also had plans to launch Train 20 following world-wide trend of aluminium coaches but its plans have now shifted to Train 21.

“With Train 18, we have reached 85-90 % of world standards. If we want to go with world standards, we should go for aluminium body coaches for the areas of exterior finish and other safety features. But these capabilities do not exist at present,” he said.

“Somebody has to invest money in making aluminium body sections. Therefore, we have to find an international partner through tendering process. Initially, they will make two to three rakes and the balance will be made in ICF under their supervision so that eventually ICF itself starts making aluminium body train sets of world standards,” he said.

“Since international companies take three years, we had envisaged that we will be able to make it in three years after placing order. But in the first tendering there were some issues. We have corrected them and send it to the Railway Board which is reviewing the matter. When the board permits, we will go for bidding. Hence, we might have to rename it as Train 21,” he said.

“As compared to coaches made from stainless steel, the coaches made from aluminium has advantages of aesthetics, low maintenance and longevity,” he added.

✌️

last 10 years ante Modi vachina tharuvathane kadha. i got it. by the way generally if a drive is started to man the unmanned railway crossings, one will typically start with doing with those that are prone for accidents. This means hope one can understand why number of accidents are reduced. Oh by the way it is only people who were wrong in Punjab when they died during Dasara. BJP team made sure that we receive WhatsApp Videos accordingly.

bro, what I am trying to say is that BJP hasn't really done this entirely like what they keep saying. If you can see the stats posted, it was only this year (2018-19), they had made double the unmanned crossings manned. Also, accidents started dropping since 2015-16 to 29. How can this be possible with only a regular annual achievement in that fiscal year (2015-16). This is because the work done in the previous years helped them to achieve it. This is my cent on the analysis shared.

Yes because they kept a target for 2020 so this year they are going all out. Usually they reach targets before time ✌️
