HYDERABAD: One of the posters on the prestigious World Telugu Conference that is to be held in the city from December 15 has become the butt of a joke. In what reflects badly on the organisers, a poster that welcomes none other than chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself, has Telugu equivalent of an abbreviated English honorific, Hon'ble, that doesn't exist at all. Instead of writing 'Gauravaneeya', meaning honourable in Telugu, before the CM's name, the poster writer prefixed the VIP's name with "Habi'bli", which does not exist in Telugu. This funny word is unlikely to exist in any other language in the world. But it is a mystery how the poster passed the muster despite the KCR government taking the conference to celebrate the rich legacy of the Telugu language as a prestigious issue.

Such posters, one of which is found near the Lal Bahadur Stadium, the main venue of the World Telugu Conference, have become the object of curiosity for passersby. If "Habi'bli" takes the cake, there are printer's devils in the handbook containing the schedule of the meet that floor the language enthusiasts.

The word 'Prasangalu' (speeches) is misspelt as 'pasangalu'. Cinematography becomes 'cine autograph'. Telangana, that makes people in the state swell with pride, is wrongly spelt as Telagana. Also, the names of the constituencies of legislators and MPs are not mentioned.
