178 Items Removed from 28% Slab, Tax on 33 Other Items Reduced

Restaurants in and outside hotels will carry a 5 per cent GST charge, at those in starred hotels with room tariffs above 7,500 a night customers will have to pay 18 per cent GST. The benefit of ITC (Input Tax Credit) to restaurants has been revoked to restaurants because they were not passing on the benefit to customers

Among goods that will no longer be taxed 28 per cent GST are daily use items like shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, shaving-cream, aftershave lotion, shoe polish, chocolate, chewing gum and nutritious drinks.

Biryani 200 Rupees MRP.

But if you consume it in restaurant, you're taking its service. Must be 18%/12% anukunta.

So total bill 224 (12%) or 236 (18%)

btw - all our prices in our milkshake store are final. We dont charge even a rupee extra as Tax. we pay from our pocket :no1:

its okay with ppl individual opinions on the reforms this gov is making... but unfortunate that media houses are not trying to do indepth analysis and educate on such reforms......

equally bad that every reform or any gov initiative is politicized rather than help people understand what actually it is or how well people can utilize and get benifited..

Policy makers and govt nunchi in-depth analysis expect chesa before implementation. Ee amendments chusthe govt ye mathram alochinchindo artham avthundi. Within few months of gst, 28% to 5% (not that I'm complaining). Hate to say this, but chidambaram is right. How are they going to enforce this with businesses already increased prices based on 28%. Unlikely to come down.
