But the water coming from sileru/sabari should be diverted in some other way. 6 months will be a tight deadline I guess. swarnandhra Posted November 8, 2017 Share Posted November 8, 2017 both coffer dams are needed for a project of this magnitude #1 This Earth-cum rock fill dam is going to take 2-3 years at best #2 even if this Dam can be built in 6 months, Historically, 50% of severe cyclones hit AP during May in the so called lean period of Godavari. #3 even if there were no cyclones, diverting silelru water it self is a costly alternative since the river flows almost flat, escape channel has to be dug fairly long. Even if we have the Cofferdams ready, Unless the spillways are completed there is no chance of storing water. Is it possible to complete the spillway by May? Hope babu garu has solution. APDevFreak Posted November 8, 2017 Share Posted November 8, 2017 Coffer dam foundation works like jet grouting has already started. This is the core and its done by Keller. Once done the stones from the Polavaram will be used to fill the cofferdam and it should go fast. The coffer dam works might have stopped in May/June, but this is the right time to start as inflows are decreasing and complete it by May.
