Guest Urban Legend Posted July 14, 2017 Share Posted July 14, 2017 Jul 14,2017 , 01:38 AM IST Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Thursday conducted a raid on the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) office and caught Y Siva Shankar Rao, Chief Accounts Officer, while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a manager, who was working under a contractor, to clear a cheque of Rs 38 lakh. Based on the complaint from a victim, a team of ACB officials caught the official. Earlier Siva Shankar Rao was nabbed by ACB officials while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe in Rajamahendravaram. ACB DG R P Thakur said as per the rules once an official caught by ACB, he should not be posted in an important post until the case was solved. As part of investigation, he said the ACB would inquire those officials who appointed Siva Shankar in the prominent post in the VMC. He added the issue would be taken to the notice of Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar to check recurrence of such incidents in future. Accused got promotion too After being caught by the ACB in 2014, Mr. Sankara Rao was placed under suspension until the conclusion of all criminal and disciplinary proceedings against him as per the Rule 8 (2) (a) of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1991, a GO said.
