For all the hype and drama around “Bahubali – The Beginning” and it sequel “Bahubali – The Conclusion” there is at least one film’s record that these two cannot beat. Ironically that film also was directed by the great SS Rajamouli.

It has been exactly 5000 days since Rajamouli’s “Simhadri” was released. Prior to this Rajamouli and NTR had together done “Student No 1” which was a big hit. Having come together again for “Simhadri” the duo raised the expectations from the industry trade and audiences – and they did not belie their hopes and expectations. “Simhadri” created records that left every industry analyst and pundit wide mouthed in wonder. No other film had ever come anywhere close to its records.

Garnering tremendous positive responses from the audiences right from the word go, the film ran for 50 days in 191 theatres, 75 days in 173 centres, 100 days in 154 centres, 125 days in 89 centres, 150 days in 63 centres and 175 days in 52 centres. These were figures never before heard of in Tollywood. Subsequently however, some films did break some of these records but there is one which as yet remains unbroken. “Simhadri” ran for 175 days in 52 centres. That record is still held by Rajamouli as a director and NTR as hero. Perhaps “Bahubali – The Conclusion” also cannot surpass that record.
