China's Chang'an Automobile Co. Ltd is planning to set up a factory in India with a capacity to manufacture 200,000 vehicles a year. The company recently visited Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and, according to sources, it is also looking for a local partner.

Chang'an Automobile, China’s oldest auto manufacturer, is headquartered in Chongqing. The company is a state-owned enterprise, which manufactures cars ranging from entry-level hatchbacks to sedans as well as sports utility vehicles, vans and pick-up trucks. It also has a range of electric and hybrid vehicles.

According to the company website, its brands include New Benni and Benni Mini in the hatchback category and Raeton in the higher segments.

While an e-mail questionnaire sent to the company was not immediately answered, sources in both the state governments confirmed that officials from Chang'an's head office have visited the states.

According to sources, the new facility could attract around Rs 1,000 crore during the initial phase.

In 2014, Beijing-based commercial-vehicle maker Beiqi Foton Motor Company announced plans for a factory at Chakan near Pune to produce a full range of commercial vehicles, but there has been no launch so far.

Sources added that the company would set up a facility with capacity to produce 200,000 units initially, which will be expanded gradually.

The company wants to keep its suppliers in the same complex or close by, sources added. This means, new automobile clusters would come up at Tada on the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, 55 km from Chennai. It may be that noted SriCity at Tada a business city is fast becoming a hub for manufacturing.

Recently, Isuzu has inaugurated its plant and Hero is planning to set up a facility next to SriCity. These companies are using Chennai's established suppliers base, while enjoying incentives, cheap land cost and access to the Government and bureaucrats.

Industry experts say the same factors could attract the Chinese maker also to choose Andhra Pradesh over Tamil Nadu.

Recently, Japanese auto major Isuzu inaugurated a Rs 3,000 crore facility at SriCity.

An official said Chang'an is also scouting for a joint venture partner. Its joint ventures in China include the likes of Suzuki, Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

It has six manufacturing bases in China and four research and development centres at Turin in Italy, Yokohama in Japan, Nottingham in England and Detroit in US.

/*********2004 YSR statement..

Speaking to newspersons near Podili during his Rajiv pallebata programme, Dr. Reddy said almost all co-promoters selected by the Telugu Desam Government would be continued in the execution of all major projects, like the Hyderabad international airport, the Gangavaram port, the Krishnapatnam port and other projects in the hitech city. "The Congress Government will not stoop to political vendetta and affect industrialisation. We will even gloss over any minor irregularities," he said.

However, the Government would review one or two projects where land had been allotted at throw-away prices, like Rs. 50,000 per acre, in Hyderabad city. It had already cancelled the Formula One car race project, he said.

2) In HIGH COURT Jaffa official recorded statement

The Krishnapatnam project, the Gangavaram Project, the EMAAR project, the Raheja Project, the Vodarevu project, privatization of Kakinada Sea Port, international airport at Shamshabad were all allocated during TDP regime. There were large number of allegations of pay offs in each of these deals. The News Papers were regularly carrying stories of corruption in each of these deals. I respectfully submit that as far as my knowledge goes, the Government headed by my late father did not go drastically against the established procedures and policies therefore there is a need to view these issues from the above perspective

kani CBI villani bokkalo vesindi CBN contract ichadu ani kadu....villu CBN techina projects lo equations marchi vallato laluchi lu chesi dabbulu tesukunnanduku &misuse chesaru vatini

ChangAn is much more older company then Acura (hardly 30 years).. interestingly two of their models have similar logo with Acura & Toyota

ChanAn may be older automotive company that does not mean this model is not a copy of Acura. even Ambassdor (Hindustan motors) is older than Acura. Let us say hindustan motors comes up with new brand cars that look just like Acura (not just symbol but shape, features, power everything), can we say that is a duplicate or not?
