Century #30

*I wont be describing scorecard of this match. Instead, I will describe some important points about this match.

- Australia scored 284 in their 1st innings, but India needed 254 to pass New Zealand on net run rate and reach the final.

- Sand storm disrupted the play. Revised target for India was 276 in 46 overs or 237 in 46 overs to qualify.

- But Sand storm was unable to stop Sachin Tendulkar. He single handedly took India past 237 scoring 143 off just 131 balls which includes 9 4s and 5 6s.

- India was on 242 when Fleming bowled a bouncer to Sachin. Sachin hooked the ball but just managed to touch the ball by Gloves and Gilchrist took the catch behind the wickets.
There was a loud appeal, but umpire shook his head and gave not out, but Sachin Tendulkar walked back by himself.

- After Sachin's wicket, India just managed 250 and lost by 26 runs but more importantly, India qualified for the final

Century #41

*Description is big, but must read.

The 1999 World Cup had seen India lose their very first game to South Africa, and just before their second game against
Zimbabwe, Tendulkar received the news that his father, Mr. Ramesh Tendulkar, was no more and had to return back to
India for the last rites.
Without Tendulkar, India lost against Zimbabwe. Their fate held in balance, as the chances of crashing out of the
tournament before the start of the second round loomed large.

A visibly shaken up Tendulkar then made a return to the tournament, in England back from India.

The Kenya game was his first match and he came on to bat at India being 92/2 in the 21st over.
From then on, a grieving Tendulkar played a masterful knock. Almost like in the Bollywood movies, India’s hero had
come back, and there was no-one who could stop the side from winning.
